About this mod

Makes changes to the fast travel system to add some text based random encounters with the possibility of losing items along the journey.

What this mod is:

This mod makeschanges to the fast travel system similar to the old Fallout games style of
fast travel. While this mod is not the most game changing, it does add an
amount of risk to fast travel, rather than just teleporting, and will make you
think twice if you are low on ammo or stimpaks. This mod is also similar to
JIPs Fast Travel Anywhere mod for FO3 and NV, although a bit simpler and with a
text based encounter system instead of in game combat encounters. I may add in
game combat encounters in the future but this is my first mod involving
scripting and I'm not sure how to actual do that as of now.

Basically when you fast travel over a long distance greaterthan roughly Sanctuary to Lexington there is a chance you will be ambushed,
have enemies in your way or other random events. This chance is determined by
your Perception and Luck. Once you arrive at your destination youwill receive a message if you encountered enemies along the way and how it was
resolved, as well as the amount of ammo and stimpaks lost if applicable.
How these encountersare resolved are sometimes based on perks, SPECIAL stats and if you have
weapons, ammo and stimpaks.

For example, you maybe ambushed by Raiders on the way to your destination but, with a high enough agility,
you will be able to escape the encounter using minimal stimpaks and no ammunition.
Although, if you haveto engage your enemies either from an ambush or if they are in your way, you
must have at least one of following: a weapon with ammo, a melee weapon, an
explosive or the IronFist perk otherwise you will die and fail the fast travel.

The only locationsafe to travel to without the risk of an encounter is the Institute, since its
literal teleportation.
 

Possible Issues:

I have spent much time testing the mod as well as thinking through where the game may teleport
you as part of a quest or something like it. Since this mod determines what to
do based on when the player changes locations, you may receive a message saying
you fast traveled even though you did not or in the worst case (having no
weapons) you will die and be returned to the last save. If you run into these
issues please post here with details of the situation and I will post a fix.
 

Compatibility:


I do not recommend using this mod while in Nuka World or Far Harbor. I have not played or bought
those DLCs and the mod is not programmed to deal with those worlds. Although,
you CAN have those installed while playing the base game with this mod
installed, just make sure you disable this mod or uncheck it in your load order
before traveling to those world spaces.
I also recommend thatif you have weapons added in through mods or the DLCs, you make sure you have a
base game weapon with base game ammo in your inventory otherwise you will die when
fast traveling if you face a random encounter.
Otherwise this mod should be compatible with everything.
 

Recommended Mods: This mod would go great with the Immersive Fast Travel.

Installation:

Download, install and activate with NMM or just copy the contents of the zip file to your Fallout 4
data folder.
