Update
Major overhaul to the M4. The barrels and handguards are now seperate, just go to the weapon workbench and chose either the short or long barrel. Also added a unique M4 which can be found in fort hagen near the Fatman.

The M16

The M16, officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16, is a United States military adaptation of the AR 15 rifle. The original M16 was a select fire, 5.56mm rifle with a 20-round magazine. In 1964, the M16 entered American Military service and the following year was deployed for jungle warfare operations during the Vietnam War. In 1969, the M16A1 replaced the M14 to become the U.S. military's standard service rifle. The M16A1 improvements include a bolt-assist, chrome plated bore and a new 30-round magazine. In 1983, the USMC adopted the M16A2 rifle and the U.S. Army adopted it in 1986.  The M16A2 fires the improved 5.56mmx45 NATO (M855/SS109) cartridge and has a new adjustable rear sight, case deflector, heavy barrel, improved handguard, pistol grip and buttstock, as well as a semi-auto and three-round burst only fire selector. A modiffied version of the M16A2 known as the M16A3 was adopted in small numbers by the US navy SEALs, Seabees and secruity teams. Using the A1 trigger group it allowed for full automatic fire rather than 3 round burst. Adopted in 1998, the M16A4 is the fourth generation of the M16 series. It is equipped with a removable carrying handle and Picatinny rail for mounting optics and other ancillary devices.

By the early 21st century the M16 along with the M4 had been phased of front line use in favor of the R series, but survived in use with reserve forces and law enforcement. When the bombs fell many M series where in storage in Mojave (the dry air stopped the weapons from rusting) and found a second life being used by new factions that formed, namely the NCR. A few were found around Boston, however the sea air lead to heavy corrosion leaving most unserviceable.

This Mod adds the M16 in it's later A3 varraint with flat top rail. It fires full auto so fits into the game without breaking realism and was used by Navy secruity forces so would fit the lore with several navy ships around and the Nucleus being a US Navy base.


Features
The weapon will start to appear at level 25, with a couple placed in the wasteland. The All american is hiddern somewhere in a military base.
The M16 has 6 sights, 7 stocks, 4 handguards, 6 mags, Custom Bayonet, Damage modifiers and the usual collection of receivers.
The M4 has 3 handguards and shares the same features as the M16.
The XM16E1 has only 1 barrel, but 5 stocks and the usual receivers.
