No longer being maintained as of Horizon 1.3

I feel Horizon has made enough changes to factions to no longer warrant external mods covering factions.  I'll leave my faction patches up in case anyone wants to use older Horizon versions or wants to take over but I will no longer be making updates.

Unofficial patch for Super Mutant Redux and Horizon.

This is considered a BETA until I am convinced there are no bugs or inconsistencies.  If you find any bugs or inconsistencies please report via the bug tracking tab.  I only offer support for the latest version of Super Mutant Redux and Horizon.  If you're using an older version of either I offer no support.

Summary:

Horizon's new Nightkin and Sniper NPCs:
As of version 1.1: Horizon's new nightkin and sniper supermutants are removed and replaced by SMR's nightkin and sniper supermutants.

Horizon makes nightkin very rare and always legendary where as SMR completely replaces all melee super mutants with nightkin.  I went with a mix of the two.  Nightkin spawn alongside normal melee supermutants; initially occuring very rarely and will gradually increase in frequency the higher level you get.

The same applies with Horizon and SMR's snipers.  SMR completely replaces missile launcher mutants with snipers.  This patch will keep missile launcher mutants and you will occasionally see a sniper mixed in with normal supermutants.  The frequency of snipers also increases the higher you get.

NPC Stats:
As of version 1.1: super mutants now follow the balancing standards set by Horizon.  Super mutants have ~200 health and their resists gradually scale up as the level progresses.

There are a lot of changes to make NPC's have the proper health pools and resist scaling.  In general, super mutants have ~300 health, legendaries and bosses have ~350, and hounds have ~200.  They also have the same damage resist scaling as Horizon's super mutants, gradually getting tougher the higher the level.

The intention was to be a little tougher than Horizon's default super mutants because that's basically what Super Mutant Redux does in comparison to Vanilla.  They also give slightly better loot such as broken stealth boys (precious fiber optics and circuitry) and meat for survivability and I felt a little bump in difficulty was necessary to balance this.

Strong in particular has had his changes from Super Mutant Redux merged with Horizon.  Specifically, he retains the "Strongs Back" buff (+700 Carry weight, +10 endurance) perk from SMR and the companion traits (no fall damage, radiation/posion immunity) from Horizon.  His companion perk was also included but slightly nerfed compared to default SMR.

Thanks to your relationship with Strong, when you fall below 25% (down from 30%, matches Horizon) health you deal +20% (down from 40%, matches Horizon) more weapon (all weapons, rather than just melee weapons) damage.

Unarmed Super Mutants hit slightly harder.

Leveled Lists:
Leveled items and NPCs were rescaled to match Horizon scaling.  Other than generic rescaling, the following lists were specifically edited:

New with version 1.1: All supermutant leveled list loot was changed to use Horizon's new leveled lists, including legendary loot. This means this patch should make SMR mutant loot compatible with the new weapon crafting system.

Melee Weapons:
  • SMO's Fire Hydrant weapon will start appearing at level 40.

Meat:
  • SMO's strange (human) meat was forwarded and will appear in Super Mutant meat leveled lists
  • Rare meat,(yao gui, deathclaw, mirelurk, radscorpion, stingwing), will not be available in meat leveled lists (forwarded from Horizon)

Death item lists:
  • Removed or lowered death rewards for things like caps
  • Behemoths now always drop the hydrant weapon rather than the hydrant junk.

Leveled NPC's:
  • All super mutant leveled lists were heavily rescaled using Horizon's level 40 cap as a reference (vanilla typically caps at 68)
  • Sniper super mutants replace rocket launcher mutants (forwarded from Super Mutant Redux)

Weapons:
Pretty standard weapon changes here.  Damage balanced slightly and keywords added so they benefit from weapon specializations.

  • Super Sledge
  • Brush Axe (base damage nerf from 30->25)
  • Reaper
  • Hydrant Cudgel (base damage nerf from 70->60)
