About this mod

Makes it possible for anyone (enemies included) or just settlement NPCs to craft items whenever they use a workbench while gradually getting better at it. Does not interfere with their normal assignments, jobs or behavior. No DLC required!

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
Tired of NPCs hogging the workbenches for you just to work on that same stick of wood every darn time? Then continue looking, this mod doesn't change that sorry.
It does however give them a chance to produce items, what depends on the type of workbench, making their pet projects slightly less annoying and considerably more useful. The mod uses a simple system to simulate craftmanship experience which allows NPCs to work towards greater chance for "critical crafting". Which is just a fancy way to say they make an extra item.

GETTING STARTED
* Install mod
* Craft the "Crafting NPCs" at any Chemistry station
* Load holotape and configure mod as you see fit
* From now on whenever you walk or travel somewhere with workbenches the mod will automatically detect and monitor them to see if any NPC uses them

For first time installs I recommend setting the feedback mode initially DEBUG, it'll make it easy to see if everything works correctly.

WHAT WORKBENCHES ARE SUPPORTED?
Chemistry , Weapons, Armor, Cooking and Power Armor

WHAT CAN BE CRAFTED?
Items are picked from vanilla game levelled lootlists. This means even if the NPC crafting is level 1 the resulting item still is something appropriate for the player level. The only slight difference is that the Power Armor bench is limited to only producing raider armor.

WHO CAN CRAFT?
Any NPC which has the workshopnpc script or everyone depending on how you configure the mod. Everyone means just that, allies or enemies, so raiders or gunners may craft items and store in their workbenches alternatively equip them to shoot you in the face.

WHEN DOES CRAFTING OCCUR?
Only when the player is around. The trigger to detect NPCs working only fires when the workbench is loaded/visible. The random roll to decide if an item is created or not is done immediately and isn't re-done no matter how long they stand there working so you're free to kick NPCs from the workbenches if you need to use them yourself.

HOLOTAPE OPTIONS
Set Item Mode
CARRY - Items are stored in inventory, they may show up as goods for vendor assigned NPCs
EQUIP - Armor and weapons will be equipped, not finished, probably won't work but feel feel to try. NPCs will still switch to better weapons and use consumables without this. It's just equipping better (or worse) armor automatically that won't occur.
STORE - Items are stored in the workshop inventory OR the workbench if it's not linked to one

Crafting Chance
20%/40%/60%/80%/100% options - The chance for crafting to occur, change as you see fit/balanced

Specialist Bonus
2x/2,5x/3x - The multiplier a vendor NPC get to craft an extra item of the same type of items as they're selling. E.g, weapon vendors get multiplier bonus using the weapons workbench

Skillgain Increment
5%/7%/10%/15%/25% options - The "skillup" the NPC get on successful crafting. Used to calculate extra item bonus for both specialist and non-specialist NPCs. E.g, four successful crafting attempts with the 25% option will yield a guaranteed chance, 100%, to craft an extra item. Anything over 100% is disregarded, 200% won't mean two extra items (at least currently)

Feedback Mode
Debug - Shows extra information about how/if the mod is working. Workbench detection, use, results etc. Useful to verify proper installation
Normal - Shows basic information, basically just when something is crafted. Will not display information on crafting by non-workshop NPCs to prevent giving the player knowledge about the location of enemies or workbenches they haven't discovered yet.
Silent - Nothing. You get nothing.

NPC Mode
WorkshopNPC - Only those assignable to workshops will craft, basically just settlers and companions
ALL - Everyone can craft including enemies so make sure to check their workbenches or bodies for extra items depending on Item Mode setting

Workbench Detection Mode
LocationChange - Whenever the location changes, they're usually quite small so updates will be frequent. Works great outside, may miss interior workbenches
OnCellLoad - Whenever a new cell is loaded, quite big, less frequent updates. May miss outside workbenches, work great for interior ones
Change&Load - Attempts to combine both but will only allow one of them at a time to run a detection to prevent conflicts. Recommended mode and default

FUTURE PLANS
None, the following are just ideas that have a very slight chance of being attempted and even less of being completed.
* Add support for bonuses or unique functions also for NPCs assigned to none-vendor tasks. Farmers could create extra seeds/crops, guards might create ammo or a stimpak to help with their job, scavenger assigned NPC might produce no items but scrap instead for example.
* Extend the stat-tracker to include other data than just crafting making it possible to gradually add features/capabilities to workshop-npcs. Kill count could be used increase guard capabilities or sold or created items could be used to bump a standard vendor up to legendary stock.
* Tier the crafting lists so skill can be used to determine the quality/value of produced goods too

KNOWN ISSUES
* EQUIP does not work properly, see above
* Degree of how often NPCs use the workbenches will vary depending on their assignments, if other mods control or change them and most of all on their sandbox package (controls how often they wander around, use furniture and so on)
* May be over or underpowered depending on how you configure the mod
* After installation detection doesn't immediately work in the area you're already in, you must travel elsewhere and return first

COMPATIBILITY
Should be high, this mod does not edit any vanilla scripts/quests/list or other assets and the workbench-detection uses the standard keywords meaning any custom benches set up properly to use them too should work.

DISCLAIMER
This mod comes with the official LazyGirl Well It Works For Me™ guarantee. That is, none whatsoever. I recommend only using it on just-for-fun-and-testing junk saves.
