About this mod

Sick of your character's voice? This mod shuts 'em up!

Permissions and credits
NOTICE: This mod is hella outdated and the way it works is super ghetto, and I will NOT be updating this mod in the future. I strongly recommend using a different mod if you're looking to shut Nate and Nora up, but I'm leaving this up on the Nexus for legacy purposes (whatever the hell that means). I suggest trying Silent Protagonist - Your Voice is Your Own by CoffeeAddictUK

DLC OWNERS:
If you DO choose to use this mod, and you have the DLC dimedius here on the Nexus has created their own patches for both DLC, available here: AutomatronFar Harbor. Thanks dimedius!

*******THIS MOD ADDS AROUND 13,000 LOOSE FILES FOR EACH GENDER, YOUR GAME MAY HANG FOR A WHILE THE FIRST TIME YOU LAUNCH IT BUT JUST LET IT DO ITS THING FOR A BIT.

Silence is Golden - Silent Protagonists

Are you sick of your character's stupid voice, or are you worried about the problems a voiced protagonist creates for quest mods? Worry no more, Silence is Golden is here to help!

This mod works similarly to my other mod (FartOut 4 - Total Voice Replacement Mod) and replaces all the protagonists' voiced lines, but this time with silence instead of farts. I HIGHLY recommend using the Full Dialogue Interface mod with this, as this mod makes it virtually impossible to know exactly what your character is going to say as there's no time to read the subtitles. Eventually some more skilled modders than myself may discover a way to shut the players up using a .ESP file, but until that day comes I will continue to update this mod to silence the players in any future DLC as well.

"Why is this 20-24MB? Shouldn't nothing but silence have a smaller file size?"

Yeah... ideally it should, but I neglected to strip the lipsync information. I'll probably do that with a future version later this week... or hell even later tonight if I get bored - it's just that it takes a while to run the script that replaces everything. I've got two ideas for how I want to do it, and I'm gonna go with whichever one results in the smallest total filesize.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Enable modding in your FO4 installation if you haven't already
2. Download whichever version of the mod you want to your hard drive
3. Extract the "Sounds" folder to your Fallout 4/Data directory.
4. Launch the game (If it seems to freeze... I have no idea what the shit it's doing but it should work if you give it a minute or two - the freezing should only happen the first time you run the game after installing this mod)

That's it!
