About this mod

Retextures Dogmeat to look like a pitbull or amstaff, uses Raider Dog model but does not replace raider dogs in game. only replaces Dogmeat.

Permissions and credits
First mod I've shared publicly. I only did this because I wanted Dogmeat to look like my pitbull (Torah), and the raider dog is the closest in game. The retextures I found with raider dog model for Dogmeat also changed the raider dogs, and I didn't want that.

This only changes Dogmeat. Building from smorris2012's 'Alternate Dogmeat retexture' (to remove the scarring), I adjusted the colors to look like my pitbull. Then made it so only Dogmeat was altered.

In the images I spawned a bunch of raider dogs to demonstrate Dogmeat is clearly unique while using the raider dog texture for the body/shape, the original raider dog texture was not affected at all.

If I screwed up something, I'll check the comments occasionally. But I'm not on here often. I'm an Electrical Engineer, not a programmer or GFX artist so modding isn't high priority. And If I did mess up, at least everyone knows all we have to do is change the BGSM now (instructions below), so you don't need me anymore.

~~~~~Everything below is irrelevant unless you want to retexture dogmeat yourself~~~~~~
Info for anyone wanting to change dogmeat without affecting raider dogs of the same texture:
~~
I just used the Material Editor and change the Dogmeat "*.BGSM" file to point to new textures (same textures used in the nif).
Without changing the BGSM material file, you could get the nif right and independent from raider dog files, but dogmeat would be invisible in game.
I've added a new BGSM file, modifying the Dogmeat nif to point to the new BGSM and textures, and separated the raider dog based Dogmeat textures from the original raider dog in game. So Now your dog doesn't have to look like the others.
If you want to use this to create your own version that does not replace Raider Dogs, feel free. All you have to do is modify the DogMeat2_d texture file in photoshop or a similar program as long as you have the necessary plugin. The BGSM Materials file and nif are already set up and linked to take care of the rest.
the Material Editor that allowed me to replaced dogmeat without changing the original Raider Dog is:
