SCOUTER - Toggle Patch

IMPORTANT - Make sure you follow the installation instructions further down the page as the HotkeysPatcher files can not be installed with a mod manager.

CHANGELOG

V1.0 - Initial upload.

V1.1 - Updated thermal imaging effect to be more useful and not as dark.

DESCRIPTION

This mod adds a toggle option for the visual effects of my Scouter mod.
It does this by launching a small script with the use of Registrator2000's FO4Hotkeys mod.

WHAT ELSE

My original scouter mod featured 4 visual effects. I have now also added Infra-red vision to the list. This visual effect is similar to the targeting HUD in that it highlights all living beings, it also adds a detect life effect so you can partially see beings through walls. To offset this, I have made the image space to be a little less contrasty and not too bright so it can get hard to navigate in this mode for too long, as such, it is mostly useful in conjunction with the tracking module (recon effect) to scout out areas before a fight.

The primary vision modules are:

Targeting HUD
Night Vision
Infra-Red.

These are the effects that can be toggled, and only one can be active at a time.

The other effects:
Tracking Module (Recon effect)
Focus Enhancer (Slow time while aiming)

These secondary effects are applied at a workbench as usual and cannot be toggled, but the nature of them doesnt really require them to be toggled anyway.
I may consider adding a toggle for the focus enhancer in future updates if people request it.

REQUIRED
Scouter by Ruddy88 (That's me!) and Karel2016 (who updated for DLC and ported to console)
FO4 Hotkeys by Registrator2000

INSTALLATION - Base File

1. Make sure you have installed the required mods files first.
2. Download the MAIN file for this mod.
3. Install the _BASE file you chose with a mod manager of your choice.

INSTALLATION - Hotkeys - AUTO PATCHER

I have included a merge utility thanks to Registrator2000, it is a batch file though that needs to be run with admin rights. As such, I understand if anyone is cautious, so will include instructions on how to manually patch your Hotkeys.ini aswell.
Download the _HotkeysPatcher of your choice from the optional files section.

Option 1 uses Numpad Keys 1 2 and 3 to toggle effects, this will conflict with mods that also use these keys such as "PLACE ANYWHERE".
Option 2 uses keys [ ] and \ to toggle effects. I am unaware of any other mods that use these keys.

Extract the rar file anywhere on your computer, desktop is fine. Run the update_hotkeys.cmd file as admin.
This will locate your existing hotkeys.ini and add that relevant lines where they need to go.

INSTALLATION - Hotkeys - MANUAL

If you are wary of running batch files on your system, then you can also just update the hotkeys.ini yourself.

Simply go to your games data folder (Generally in c:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Fallout4/Data) and locate the hotkeys.ini file.
Open it up in notepad.
Then just copy and paste the following lines anywhere underneath the [Hotkeys] section.

Option 1 (Numpad keys 1 2 and 3)

NumPad1= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleTargetHUD"
NumPad2= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleNightVision"
NumPad3= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleInfrared"

Or Option 2 (Keys [ ] and \)

[= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleTargetHUD"
]= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleNightVision"
\= cgf "Scouter_Toggle.R_ToggleInfrared"

Looking at the above lines it should be pretty easy to figure out how to modify this to use whatever keys youd like, here is an article on how to set key bindings (again, thanks to registrator2000) Possible Keybinds.

CONSOLE????

Sorry guys, but due to this mod's dependancy on FO4 Hotkeys mod, this particular addition will not be able to be configured to work on consoles of any sort.
The original Scouter mod DOES work on console though and is already available on BethNet thanks to Karel2015, who took over some of my mods for me during my hiatus.

NOTES

This mod will work with my other mod West Tek Tactical Optics - Toggle HotKeys. You can even use the same hotkeys for both.
The reaosn being is that both mods use a script to check the armor piece is being worn first, and since they both use the same body slot (47 - eyes) they cannot both be equipped at the same time.
You may sometimes see a dialogue message saying one or the other is not equipped, but generally the script that fires successfully takes priority and shows its message (Visual effect enabled).

COMPATIBILITY

This mod needs to be loaded AFTER the original Scouter mod or it WILL crash.
There shouldnt be any other compatibility issues, although mods that also have keybindings MAY conflict and cause unexpected behaviours. If this happens, you can read the installation instructions again and try to modify the hotkeys.ini yourself, or if you still run in to trouble, then shoot me a message and Ill help you out.

RECOMMENDED MODS

These mods are highly recommended to be used with my Scouter mod, they will let you customise the night vision and the targeting HUD effects to your own liking, especially useful if you use any sort of darker nights type mods as the night vision may not be a strong enough effect without it.

Alternate Vision by Unforbidable
Customizable Targeting HUD by C4PON3

CREDITS

Regitsrator 2000 for his FO4 Hotkeys mod, as well as his help with getting things to work lately, and for the merge utility he provided.
GhostFish - For his help in the chat room the last week or so as I dabbled in Papyrus for the first time.
Anyone else that helped, cheers, hope you enjoy the mod!

And of course, Karel2015 for his help on the original Scouter mod, he patched it to work with the DLC and ported it over to console when I wasnt able to do so.

Also volvaga0 for the original scouter meshes that he let me port from Skyrim.
