About this mod

Adds a cave system (interior cell) to the Coastal Cottage settlement in place of the small hole (or poor excuse for a cave) under the broken house.
Adventure, Raiders, loot, and surprises await. Compatible version moves the additions outside the settlement for compatibility.

This mod adds a cave (interior cell) to the Coastal Cottage settlement

I was disappointed that there was little that could be done with the small "cave" under the remains of the house there, but found that the round metal doorway would fit the hole nicely.
Rather than complicate matters by digging a cave in that cell, I opted for creating an interior cell.

The only changes I've made to Coastal cottage is the addition of the doorway, an extra raider (Vinz, who has the key you'll want), moved the Mirelurks out of the way of the doorway, tweaked some terrain/navmeshing and idle markers. I've also added a floor inside the garage that allows you to build on it.

This should mean that this mod is compatible with almost any other mod; excluding those that add something in and around that cave.
It's certainly compatible with the 100+ mods I have loaded (none specifically change Coastal cottage).

This has been built with "vanilla" assets so no DLCs are required.

Inside the cave you'll find a raider encampment based within a twisting cave structure.
There's some flavour notes scattered throughout to give them a bit of story and a few hidden (and not so hidden) surprises.

The cave is not linked to the settlement and containers should be considered NOT safe for storage.

Here is a quick run through with my gunslinger character at level 36 on hard:

Have a look around and let me know what you think.
I may do something similar (caves to explore) in the future...

FAQ

Q. When I enter the cave it glitches out, can this be fixed?
A. Yes, there are a few things to try;
1. Check in your data folder (where all the plugins are found) for 2 related .BA2 files in addition to the .esp file: "Coastal Cave Main" and "Coastal Cave Textures". If they are missing download manually and extract the missing files to your data folder.
2. All three files are present. NMM may have had a problem when installing the mod. Download manually and extract to your data folder.
3. Neither of those worked. I've added an optional file; this is the full mod, but without the archives generated. See below...

Optional file: Version 0.9.
This is the full Cave mod as it was before I generated the pre-combined meshes and visibility. It is just the plugin file (.esp).
DO NOT install both versions.
If you are having problems with the full version 1.0 and want to try this version:
Uninstall Version 1.0 through NMM.
Check your "data" folder for "Coastal Cottage Cave.esp", "Coastal Cave Main.BA2" and "Coastal Cave Textures.BA2" and delete them if they are present.
Download and install version 0.9, this will give you just the .esp file.
Go and explore it in-game.

Note. Due to the lack of Pre-combination this version may be harder on your framerate as your pc will be rendering the whole cave all the time. However, this is the version that is being used on the PS4, so it does work fine.

Q. Is this mod compatible with "x" Coastal Cottage rebuild mod?
A. If they do not fill in the original hole that is found in Coastal Cottage, then you should be able to access the cave. Otherwise, there is no problem with my additional raider (Vinz); he will behave normally. The only other points of issue will be the new floor in the garage (which will only cause clipping or just hide the other floor), and the safe inside the garage (for the same reasons).

I have had a chance to test some other mods:
Rebuilt Coastal Cottage by rdunlap - Incompatible; the hole is filled in. Cave can only be accessed if you "tcl". Also has an issue with my safe and one of his additions being in the same place.

Coastal Cottage Repaired and Restored by FinalRender; Incompatible. The hole is filled in (but you can see the top of the metal doorway). Cave can only be accessed by "tcl".

Coastal Cottage Redone and Overhauled by Quaz30; Unsure. I can't test as I don't have Far Harbour as yet.

However... I have now created an option version "Coastal Cottage Compatible Cave", this moves the entrance, raider, and safe outside the settlement; now positioned in the cliff-face below Coastal Cottage, by the road. I've also removed the floor in the garage. The entire build area for the settlement is now untouched by this version for maximum compatibility.
This version is compatible with all the above mods.

The latest version (2.1) has been re-done using roombounds instead of pre-vis/pre-com. For an interior cell, this is how it should be.
Upon installation (NMM recommended) you will still get 1 .esp file and 2 .ba2 files. These should be situated in your Fallout 4 data folder.

The primary main file is for the original cave mod.
The secondary main file is the compatible version.
Both have been updated to use roombounds.
Only install one of them.

The interior of the cave is exactly the same. The only differences is the positioning of the cave entrance (within or outside the settlement), the raider (Vinz) and the safe. The compatible version also does not have the floor in the settlement's garage.

Thanks.
