Lore
Before the war, a team of mechanically-inclined citizens from various tech firms in the Boston area, including ArcJet Systems, Vault-Tec, Mass Fusion, and Poseidon Energy, came together under various aliases to discuss the future. Having come to the conclusion that the world was more or less doomed, they formed the Exodyne Group and began to make preparations for the end of the world as they knew it. This included sabotaging the Vault 88 experiment to allow its residents to live in peace, as well as creating various devices that they hoped would prove useful to survivors of the apocalypse. Among these were a set of weapons known as the X-70 Experimental Armaments series. They intended to gather these weapons, once completed, in a hidden arsenal somewhere in the Commonwealth. However, the bombs hit before they could do this, leaving the X-70 series scattered across the Commonwealth... until the Sole Survivor found them.

The X-77 Sonic Amplifier is a sound-based energy weapon designed to both damage and debilitate the enemy. Though the basic prototype is nothing to sneeze at, there are two additional holotapes that can be loaded into the gun to add increased functionality. Additionally, a mechanically-inclined individual can modify the structure of the gun to make it a rifle and/or switch to automatic fire. Developed by Citizen Mars at ArcJet Systems, the basic version can still be found in a safe at the ArcJet facility near Cambridge. Oddly enough, when Mars went to hide the X-77, he stumbled across a disgruntled technician's secret workstation... and his project, the Junk Jet. Had the bombs not fallen the next day, he would have invited the janitor to join the Exodyne Group.

Versions
  • v0.1: Adds the X-77 Sonic Amplifier, as well as a safe in ArcJet Systems containing it, the necessary ammo, and the holotapes needed to modify it. How did an ArcJet employee get hold of a Deathclaw roar or Dogmeat's bark? The short answer is: he didn't. Lore-wise, you made those tapes. I just couldn't figure out how to make that possible in-game. Modifications the various frequencies.

Planned Future Features

  • Fix position of dish so that it's properly connected to the front of the gun
  • Custom ammo
  • MOAR FREQUENCIES
  • Fix projectile launching from the head
  • Fix modification to allow rifle conversion
  • Fix spawning as automatic (is supposed to spawn as a basic pistol) and allow crafting of the automatic variant
  • Fix naming (spawns as "Auto Pistol" instead of the proper name)
