The Mod
Daisy was a German Shepard belonging to my best friend, Lynn. At the age of 14, Daisy's multiple ailments including severe arthritis, deafness, and cancer eventually took it's toll, and on November 30th 2016 at 3pm, she was put to sleep. She was a very sweet and gentle dog, and was always at her human's side, even though it hurt her just to move from room to room. In her younger days, she was a stout protector, and at one point put herself between Lynn's mother, Lynn's niece, and an aggressive rattlesnake.
She was well loved and spoiled up to her last hour, even getting her very own cheeseburger as her last meal.
I've been a huge fan of the Fallout series for a long time, and have spent days and days worth of time modding my game to the full extent of my machine's capacity. Since Dogmeat is also a loyal companion and a German Shepard, I decided to rename (and re-gender, apperantly) him to Daisy in honor of a lifelong companion that will be greatly missed. It's silly, perhaps, and not much, but hopefully it's the thought that counts.
This small mod, made with FO4Edit, will change Dogmeat's display name to 'Daisy'.
It won't alter calling him 'boy' or stop voice actors from calling him Dogmeat.
So, if you'd like, use this mod to let Daisy live on to WRECK THE HECK OUT OF SOME BAD GUYS.
This was fairly simple for me to do, so, if you've lost a dog and have a request for an alternate name for Dogment, post a picture of your dog with their name, and I'll add a custom .esp with that name to the files when I get a free moment.
Alternatively, if you want to do it yourself, look up 'change Dogmeat's name using FO4Edit' on youtube, there are some great tutorials. But I certainly understand if you don't want to mess with that.
Though I intend to make good on making renames for the names given so far, I will not be taking any more. I apologize for taking so long with the others.
Installation
As this is my first ever mod, I'm not sure where it should go in the load order or what it might conflict with. I use LOOT for my loadout of 145 mods, and have it at the bottom of the load order, after any mod that edits Dogmeat (besides retextures). That seems to work fine.
-Simply install using NMM.
Updates
As soon as I stop having a ridiculous constant headache, I will release new name .esp's in .zip archives in bunches. So, you can download the .zip with your custom Dogmeat name, and pluck it out of the archive into your NMM from there. If you don't give a heck about muddling up your load order, you can install the whole .zip and just disable the names you don't want. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious I'll figure out how to make a nifty NMM installer. Oh! What about an installer to pick Dogmeat's name and one of the alternate skins? Hmm, but then I'd have to chat up the other mod authors. Wow, rambling.
IMOD 1.1 HAS BEEN ADDED!
Download the optional file to your computer, open the .zip archive, and extract the IMODname.esp that you want to use. Add to your data folder or favored mod manager, and enjoy \o/
