About this mod

Changes the various static school desks into containers with loot you'd expect to find in a school desk - pencils, chalk, erasers, pens, etc.

[Description]:

I really liked that school desks could be looted in Fallout: New Vegas, as it was a nice touch, one of those small things that just helps with the immersion. I'm always bothered in games when something that really seems like it should be something you can do is not possible, so I made this small mod.

All this does is replaces all the *static* school desks in the game with container version that can be looted for various items you'd expect to find in a school desk, such as pencils, pens, paint brushes, etc.

I also added a new "eraser" misc item that can be found in the desks (it's just a soap mesh that I slapped a pink texture onto, but it works lol). The Eraser can be scrapped and is worth 1 rubber component.

[Installation]:

Either install using a mod manager or manually extract the contents of the included archive into your Fallout4/Data folder.

[Where to Find]:

I did not add any *new* desks, I simply replaced all of the static "non-furniture" versions in the game with the new containers I made. As such, you can find them exactly where their static counterparts were located at (i.e. like inside the Suffolk County Charter School).

[FAQ]:

Q: If another mod uses the same static desk object, will this mod replace them with the new container version?

A: No. There is no way for me to make these changes affect other mods by default, so I'd need to make a patch for any other mods to use these new container versions.

Q: How is this mod for compatibility with other mods?

A: There was no way around it: I had to make some edits to cells and worldspaces. This will not be a problem with other mods unless they try to edit the same school desks that I did, though. I couldn't tell you what kinds of mods would do that, though, and even if they did conflict it would not be "deadly" (like it wouldn't cause a CTD or anything lol).

------------------------------------------------

Q: Will this mess up any of the school desks that children sit at in the game?

A: Nope. I only replaced the *static* versions of the desks, not the *furniture* versions. So all the desks that children sit at (like in the Diamond City Schoolhouse) will not be affected.

[Notes on Console Porting]:

If there is enough interest I am willing to try and port this mod to the consoles. I do not have an Xbone or PS4, though, so I would need help with testing the mod port.

HOWEVER:

- The Xbone port would not be a problem.
- The PS4 port would require removing the new eraser item I added before I could port it. Sony has decreed that NO custom assets be allowed in the PS4 mods, so I could only include the plugin (.esp) file, and not the new texture I added for the eraser. Nothing I can do about that, sorry!
