About this mod

Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

Modern Firearms by Idlesheep and friends is easily the best weapon mod for a Bethesda game I've seen to date. It adds a good number of highly modular weapon platforms invented between 1945 and 2016 in the US, Europe, and Russia/the USSR. However, they have a philosophy on video game weapons that differs from most people who make shit for RPGs: "One bullet should hurt. Two bullets should make the hurt stop altogether."

This concept changes combat in Fallout 4 entirely - you can't risk being shot nearly as much, even if you're wearing good armor. Seriously, have you been hit with one of their DSRs? It took away 75% of my health - at fucking level 88 with two pieces of armor with Mark 5 ballistic weave on them! While this makes gameplay much more realistic (and enjoyable assuming you're not sexually aroused by classic RPGs I swear if the main character of the Elder Scrolls VI isn't voiced because of you assholes I'm gonna be so fucking pissed.), it makes all the guns in the base game completely useless (even though most of them are already kinda shitty regardless).

This mod fixes that by making the vanilla guns do the same amount of damage as a weapon of the same caliber from Modern Firearms, which uses this system to determine base damage:
9x19 - 50 BD
5.56x45 - 80 BD
7.62x39 - 100 BD
7.62x51 - 120 BD
.50 BMG - 250 BD
*For those of you who don't know, 7.62x51 is .308

However, because Modern Firearms doesn't have any kind of special receivers, the guns in the base game do the same amount of damage as an MF weapon of the same caliber when they have an advanced receiver, which multiplies the weapon's damage by 1.75.

FAQ:
Is this compatible with that awesome "Immersive Boomstick" mod that really badass, good-looking guy made?
Because I love you all so much, I released two versions of this mod - one designed to work with immersive Boomstick, another to work independently. I'll also be releasing a calibrated version of Immersive Boomstick when I'm done writing this.

This is an RPG, not an FPS or a Milsim. Weapons are supposed to get better as you level up.
Then don't download this...?

Modern Firearms isn't lore friendly because the Fallout universe became an alternate universe in 1945.
Take a look at the weapons in New Vegas. STANAG Magazines, picatinny rails, and ACOG optics. The AR platform exists in the Fallout universe. Take a look at the Chinese assault rifle in Fallout 3. Even someone who knows nothing about guns could see how much it resembles an AK-101. Kalashnikovs also exist in the Fallout universe. Are you really trying to debate lore with me when you're not even paying attention to New Vegas or Fallout 3, fuck-stick?

That doesn't explain the other platforms.
All those platforms were designed because of flaws with AKs and ARs. They exist because AKs and ARs exist. All multiverse-related bullshit aside, is it really that unlikely that people in Europe would design modular weapon systems in the Fallout universe?
Does this mod change anything in Modern Firearms?
No, actually. Modern Firearms isn't even required to use this. You can use it independently if you like the "One bullet should hurt, two should stop the hurt" philosophy. It was simply made with Modern Firearms in mind.

What weapons does this affect?
The 10mm Pistol, .44 Magnum, Hunting Rifle, Double-barrel Shotgun, Combat Shotgun, Combat Rifle, Assault Rifle, Submachine gun, Pipe Bolt-action, Pipe revolver, and Pipe semi-auto. With the Far Harbor addon, it also effects the Lever-Action Rifle.

Why not energy weapons?
Because energy weapons are for pussies. Literally. The Courier (assuming the Courier is female) makes vibrators out of microfusion cells. She says so in the Old World Blues DLC.

I really didn't need to know that...
Yes you do. You also need to know that the male Courier makes flesh-lights with duct tape and cram. Now you are bestowed with the gift of knowledge regarding the most badass, sexiest, craziest, motherfucker in the West's masturbation habits. You're welcome.

Okay... that part with the cram has me mentally scarred.
The Krogan of the Mass Effect Universe find scars attractive. You're welcome again.

What the fuck are you even talking about anymore? Did people even ask these questions or are you just making them up?
My role-model for FAQs and descriptions in general is Someguy2000. I haven't told him yet. Do you think he'd be proud of me or just creeped out?

Back to things that are actually related to Fallout 4, automatic weapons seem a bit fucky...
Automatic weapons in Fallout 4 do less damage than non-automatic ones. I consider it punishment for using fully automatic fire on an assault rifle like some kid playing Call of Duty.

Oh shit... are you gonna go on another tangent about automatic weapons now?
No. I don't have the same deep-routed hatred for fully automatic weapons that I do for energy weapons. They can be useful sometimes.

Modern Firearms was removed from the Nexus because illegitimate assets were used in it.
Well this mod isn't Modern Firearms.

You're still endorsing Modern Firearms, though.
I'm endorsing it because it's a really good mod. I don't give a shit that it has a mesh stolen from a game that no one's ever heard of.

My other mods that you should totally get because your Fallout 4 experience won't be as good without them:
Alright, I've made ten mods at this point, and making a bunch of hyperlinks every time I make a new one is just becoming a pain. Click this for a list of them all.
