Purpose:

This mod adds a crafting station that allows the player to grab actual items from any settlements that are connected via trade route. The station has recipes for common items such as water, ammo, food, etc. Each item can be crafted by using the exact same item. So 1 purified water costs 1 purified water. This allows you to craft water with the water contained in other settlements, assuming they are connected.

This mod aims to improve survival mode experience by eliminating long walks between settlements simply because you forgot your ammo or want to collect your caps from all of the merchants in all of the settlements.

The Item Transfer Station requires standard workbench materials to create, plus 3000 caps in order to "pay" your trade route suppliers for their extra work. After this initial investment, the items can be transferred at no cost. On top of this, the local leader 2 perk is required to fit FO4 crafting standards.

FAQ:

Q. Why am I not seeing the available items going down as I craft them?
A. Every time you craft something, it takes the item away from another settlement and puts it into your inventory. If no other connected settlements have that object, it will take the item from your current settlement and add it to your inventory. If your current settlement has none of that object, then it will take it away from your inventory and then put it back (Once it starts doing that you will know that you've transferred all of that item).

Q. Why do I need to craft items to transfer them?
A. Bethesda decided to make a confusing trade route system that allowed for items to be transferred only if they are used for crafting something. Therefore, this mod adds "dummy" crafting recipes to effectively transfer items.

Q. Why can't you just connect every settlement inventory?
A. I believe I can, but that's more of a cheat. This is a realistic mod that requires some actual setup. I know it's limited, but being able to transfer purified water will make you rich after a while with the proper water farms.

Q. I want to transfer an item but it's not in the menu.
A. Send a request to me to add it and I will decide whether or not it belongs. I don't want to clutter the menus or add non-lore friendly items. It would be unrealistic to transfer your vast supply of power armor pieces, mini nukes, etc.

Q. Why not add animal meat?
A. Because you can grill animal meat from any connected settlement. If you store raw meat in any settlement, you can cook it from any other connected settlement and it will go into your inventory.

Conflicts:

This mod simply adds a workbench and then adds recipes to that workbench. Therefore, no conflicts with any other mods should occur, unless for some reason another mod makes it so the workbench doesn't show up in the building menu.

Future Work:
  • More crafting recipes! (Make requests)
  • Custom workstation (I don't know the first thing about 3d modeling or animations, though. Help appreciated!)
  • In game instructions
