Diamond In The Rough

This modification alters Diamond city, removing, adding and moving things to
provide what is in my opinion, a more immersive experience.

My justification for this if any, is that the city is over 100 years old.
Although it is difficult to rebuild a society from scratch, using facilities
and resources already available will aid in the process. As such, I believe
Diamond city doesn’t need to be a lump of dirt with litter sprinkled on the top.

It has a functioning community, with currency flow in and out. There are
facilities to teach the youth, as well as some that allow new items to be
manufactured. A security team is in place, with a political system that also
elects mayoral candidates.

Now it is the end of the world, but living like pigs doesn’t allow for a
productive society, that would eventually build into the community and infrastructure
within the city.

A quick run down of changes I can remember.

Residents added
Added around 15 residents to various areas within Diamond City. The market area
will now be more populated, as well as the bar areas. (More idle animation
areas added around as well)

More Houses
Buildings have been added to the second story stands within the stadium. They
are purely for a more immersive experience, to give the impression of a larger
city. They cannot be entered at present.

Security / Jail
The dugout leading to the security and jail facilities has been overhauled. The
internal facility has also seen clutter added all over for greater immersion.

Dugout Bar
The bar has had a couple of new residents added. General clutter added to
shelves, tables and the bar itself. Kitchen altered slightly. Rubbish reduced.

Grass, Plants, Trees
Ground objects have been added and dotted around, to provide the impression that nature still marches on.

Floor textures
some primary used areas have been altered slightly, to give them a more professional
yet still industrial appearance and feel. The entrance pathway leading to the
market, has been altered to add concrete and metal slabs as foundations, with
some wood laid over them.

Clutter
General clutter has been added to increase overall immersion. Boxes, crates,
bottles, benches etc. have been dotted around the city, mostly in places you
will regularly frequent.

Market
Small additions to market stalls, items and boxes added to the shop front areas
as seen fit.

Rubbish Removal / Waste disposal
Reduction and removal of some of the huge heaps of rubbish, which were dotted
all over the stands and field within the city. Incinerator added: A small incineration
facility has been established within Diamond City, in order to handle the
rubbish produced by the residents.

Playground Removal
I removed the play area near the wall.

Apologise to the children of the city,
however the metal is needed elsewhere. This area seemed to be somewhat of a
second thought. It is overgrown with bushes and tucked away.

I removed the trees and added some sunken APC’s with some old robots, crates
and machinery. The impression I wanted to convey here, is that a small military
presence was based within the stadium leading up to the nuclear war.

This is primarily due to areas such as stadiums being used by government
organisations, to provide structure to civilians if their communities are
uprooted / destroyed.

Water Tower
Cluttered wooden scaffolding leading to the top of the water tower. If you want
to go up there, now you can.

Brahmin Pen
Reduced in size. It was unnecessarily large, so I added a building to represent
the Brahmins 5* accommodation. Grass added to the inside of the pen.

Stairs
A couple of staircases added. Primarily to use as shortcuts or provide access
to the tops of buildings.

Misc.
There are probably some more slight details that I have forgotten.

Performance

This will effect performance slightly as quite a few new objects have been
added. I haven’t encountered any noticeable frame drops while running around
the city, however I have no doubts you may drop a frame or two.

BUGS AND PROBLEMS
If (when) you encounter any issues, please feel free to post them in the discussions section, as well as 'bugs'.
I will also read any issues sent to me via the personal message system.

//WARNING//
I obviously haven’t tested this mod through an entire play through. As such
there may be some problems and errors, due to any number of the alterations
made. If you encounter any such issues while playing, I advise you to leave
Diamond City save and quit the game, deactivate the mod, see if the issue has
been resolved.
