Update!
I've now replace the ugly, low-res, railway rifle barrel with a custom edited barrel based on the missile launcher barrel. To make the weapon look even more unique I've also added a gas cannister "stock" along with a new custom firing sound!

Overview
This mod adds a rifle, or cannon, to the Commonwealth that fires baseballs at your enemies! But that is not all folks! Each baseball hits with such tremendous force that it will knock said enemies back a sizable distance, prefect for getting intrusive beeings out of your personal space!

Now, how may one aquire this "fine" piece of "engineering"? you may ask. Simply head on over to Westing Estate, the place where you collected the baseball items for Moe Cronin, and check for a duffle bag upstairs. Located within the bag is the "weapon" itself along with some of the custom ammunition it fires.

If you find the provided rounds are not quite enough you will have to craft more of them, fortunately all you have to do is to take your regular ol' baseballs to a Chemistry station and look under the Utility section. There you will find recipes for converting one or ten baseballs at a time to "S.Baseball"s. One-to-one converstion rate, what you put in is what you get out, no additional materials required.

If you just want to test it out you can always use the player.additem XX00173b console command for the weapon and player.additem XX001ed8 console command for the ammo, where "XX" is the mods position in your loadorder. Or you can just open the conole and type help "fastball" 4 and help "s.baseball" 4 to get the ID's.

Installation:
(Come on, y'all know how to do this :P )
Drag contents of fastball.zip to Fallout 4 Data directory or use mod manager of your choice.
Activate fastballshotgun.esp in data manager.
Start game and have fun.

Uninstallation:
Uncheck fastballshotgun.esp in data manager, delete fastballshotgun.esp in data folder along with the folder "homerunshotgun" folders in data\meshes\weapons and data\sound\fx\wpn.

Notes
That about wraps it up for the description of the weapon but here are some additional notes.
The weapon is basically just a double barrel shotgun with a railway rifle barrel in place of the standard one. Also replaced the regular shotgun shells with a baseball. Yes, I know, a baseball is ejected each time you reload the weapon but I don't know if it possible to remove that part while still having a baseball inserted into the breach.
The "knockback sound" is the same one from the 2076 World Series baseball bat's special effect and may get a bit repetetive, but as soon as I fugire out how to disable it I will upload an alternate version.
A console version will probebly not happen, since I do not own a console and can thus not test the mod in a console environment.

v1.1 is now out and it have most certainly been a learning experience. I've had to delve into the world of 3d modeling just to get rid of some small floating meshes on the new barrel. And adding a custom firing sound to your weapon is harder work than what it really should be. Anyhow, both the new barrel and new firing sound turned out great so I can't really complain. :)

Next up to figure out is a set of custom weapon upgrades/modifications. Already have a buch of ideas, only a matter of figuring out how to acctually implement them.

Bugs/Glitches
Sometimes when loading a save game with the weapon in your hands I have noticed the knockback effect's "cheering" sound playing, don't know what's causing it.
Baseballs may sometimes glitch out when colliding with world geometry.

Stuff to do
Thanks to feedback in the comments I now have a list of things to do in order to implove the mod:

  • Fix the textures of the barrel or replace the barrel with something that looks much better.
  • Add the ability to modify the weapon with custom upgrades/modifications, such as exploding projectiles and quieter operation.

v1.1 - Update
  • New custom barrel! Made a new barrel by editing and mashing together meshes of the missile launcher and the broadsider. Looks way better now!
  • New "stock". Added a gas cannister to the back of the weapon as a "stock", mostly to make the weapons form of propellant more obvious.
  • New custom firing sound. Mixed together some sound flies from the base game to make it sound more like a cannon using compressed gas to launch baseballs.
  • Changed the detection sound level to Normal to reflect the fact that the weapon is gas powered and not as loud as a shotgun.

v1.0 - Initial Release

I'm guessing Bethesda is the one to credit since all the assets used are technically made by them, just mashed up by me.
