This is my own modification of the Dialogue Menu to show the full text of what you're going to say when you mouse over that option. This is an interface mod that will require STRINGS files that provide both paraphrase and full dialogue text. I've been using this for a while and I thought some of you might appreciate the additional option.

If using a gamepad, hold down either trigger or bumper button and select a dialogue option to view its full text.

The difference between this mod and FDI's Lite option is simply that this mod shows the paraphrase by default, showing the full dialogue text when you roll over the option, while FDI's Lite shows the full dialogue text only. This mod also automatically ensures that long dialogue lines will not overflow your screen.

I wanted Fallout 4's original phrases, but also wanted the option of finding out what my character would actually say without having all of them on screen at once. (Some options can be frightfully vague.)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

For your convenience, I have provided English strings for the current version of Fallout 4 at the time of writing - v1.9.4.

These strings files are uploaded purely for your convenience because I don't intend to keep them updated on a timely basis alongside Fallout 4 updates.

I expect you to generate updated STRINGS yourself with Fallout4Translator if you are using a newer version of Fallout 4 than what I have made available for your convenience. (Despite its name, Fallout4Translator is perfectly capable of working with STRINGS files for a single language!)

You must use STRINGS files consistent with your version of Fallout 4. Otherwise, you may see menu items that appear as LOOKUP FAILED. This is not harmful to your save and is purely cosmetic, and can be resolved with a proper set of STRINGS files.

Why are you not committing to provide the latest STRINGS files?

I released the mod only because this is my personal vision for the dialogue menu. I don't see this as something that most people would generally want (read - it's not a popular option), but it's something that I use myself and heck, why not give that option to others who might want it?

It's a maintenance nightmare to generate strings options for every possible permutation for every possible language and DLC, AND keep them updated with the latest patches. Not to mention that I have to stop playing Fallout 4 one day. (gasp!) That said, I'll certainly endeavor to keep them updated for as long as I still have the game installed. I hope you understand!

How do I generate STRINGS files with Fallout4Translator?

Fallout4Translator makes it super-easy for you to generate your own strings, customized exactly how you want them.

With Fallout4Translator,

1. Go to FIle > Load ESM > Select Fallout4.esm.
2. Go to Tools > Old Dialog Style > Tick the "Copy original string before all dialogs" option > Click OK.
3. Go to File > Export STRINGS (Finalize)

That's it.

Technical:
If the original paraphrases exist within square brackets, the paraphrase is extracted and displayed, with the rest of the dialogue displayed when the option is rolled over.
