About this mod

All consumables drop the appropriate scrap items: empty bottles, used syringes, cardboard boxes, etc.

  • All consumables that have packaging or bones in the game will give specific items related to what was consumed. Some will have specifically named items such as Sugar Bombs Box, these items can then be used as scrap for settlement and workshop building. Every item was specifically tailored to fit with every other item in the game.

  • Food crafting requires specific ingredients such as tin cans, bowls or syringes. Instead of crafting food and having the bowl appear out of thin air there is now a requirement for the item, however, the item can be crafted under the Utility section of the Chemistry Station or the Cooking Station using proper materials.

  • This mod does not require any custom assets and does not modify leveled lists. This mod is best tailored for Survival mode but can be used otherwise.





  • I would be lying if I said this was my first mod on the Nexus, this is just the first mod I actually put any effort into doing. I'm really proud of how it turned out, it is also my first fully-functional mod that works 100% the way I want it to in Fallout 4.

  • I understand there is probably hundreds of mods similar to this in the Fallout 4 Nexus but I did not want to go 50% on it, I spent four hours figuring out how to do everything in the Fallout 4 Creation Kit. Eventually creating separate items for each one had gotten tedious but I went through with it to the very end to make sure it stood out from all the other "give scrap back" kind of mods.

  • I uploaded this onto Nexus primarily because I could not for the life of me find the Submit button on Bethesda's modding website. But eventually I'll upload this mod there when I do figure it out.

  • I'll continue this mod with every DLC that has consumable objects.


UPDATE NOTICE:
  • There will be a slow-down on Updates since I updated this file nearly three times in the past three days, anymore updates would be bug fixes or small implementations, sorry for the inconvenience.

1.4 Update:
  • Rebuilt the mod from the ground up (warning: some items might disappear)
  • All consumables except for obvious ones now drop their respective scrap
  • All new scrap items have had their weight, component output and value changed to better fit the game
  • You will no longer scrap bottles for glass to create bottles, the same goes for other craftable utilities
  • IV Bags, Syringes, Inhalers, Refillable Bottles and Water Cartons are all now crafting components and can be made in the Utility section of the Chemistry Station
  • Tableware and Refillable Cans are now crafting components and are added under the Utility section on the Cooking Station
  • Removed poorly implemented Water Pump - workbench conversion - sorry for that one
  • Syringe ammo now require syringes if their crafting recipe did not require a pre-made syringe such as psycho or stimpaks
  • Beer Bottles component is now Refillable Bottle
  • IV Bags are renamed Damaged IV Bags and can be scrapped for plastic which in turn can become the IV Bag Component
  • Prewar foods now drop prewar boxes
  • Bottles such as Rum, Wine and others now drop their respective bottles instead of the bottles like White Bottle or Burgundy Bottle
  • Unimplemented the 29 purified water variants as the water pump was unconverted was removed
  • Blood Packs, Radaway, Skeeto Spit all now drop IV Bag Components

1.3 Update:
  • Converted the Water Pump into a Workbench that allows the player to craft Purified Water using refillable objects
  • Added 29 Purified Water variants of existing containers in game

1.2 Update: 
  • Renamed Dirty Water Carton to Water Carton
  • Renamed Used Syringe to Syringe
  • Fixed the water pump giving the player a Water Carton
  • Fixed the infinite crafting bug that affected all mod-created utilities
  • Moved Tin Can (Purified Water), Tin Can (Unrusted), Beer Bottle and Ceramic Bowl to the Cooking Workbench utilities instead of Chem
  • Removed steel competent from Stimpak, removed Syringe from Psycho since a Stimpak is required for the recipe, removed plastic from Jet and Ultra Jet
  • Potato Crisps, Pork n' Beans, Canned Dog Food and Deezer's lemonade now have their own respective cans
  • Radroach meat, Stingwing meat, Radscorpion meat and Bloodbug meat all drop their respective chitin

1.1 Update:
  • Added Tin Can (Institute Water and Purified Water) and Dirty Water Carton to the Formlist that allows them to be refilled at a water source for Survival mode

Initial Release:
  • All packaged consumables have a scrap after product such as boxes, tin cans, used syringes or inhalers
  • Meats with visible bones will drop a bone or more depending on what the meat nif looks like
  • Nuka-Cola and Alcohol products all drop their respective bottles and bottle caps
  • Inhaler, Syringe, Ceramic Bowls, Beer Bottles and Mentat Cases can be crafted in the Utility Section of the Chemistry Station
