I didn't like the machine gun turrets that make the bulk of the standard defense of settlements.  They look like they're manufactured, not built from parts postwar.  Also, they run forever with no power and no reloads, wtf.   The problem is that laser turrets are pretty damned expensive, especially early on.  So I decided to make them cheaper.
