Gather round children, and listen to the tale of the overpowered compass. Seriously though, have you ever felt the compass in FO4 was a bit... strong? I found the compass started to dictate what I did in the game. The game went from me wanting to explore this wonderful wasteland that Bethesda crafted, to just gluing my eyes to the bottom of the screen and looking for locations I haven't been to yet. My immersion was broken before it even started! To my surprise I could only find a couple of mods that addressed this issue, however from what I could see they just nuked the locations (and sometimes enemies) right off the compass completely. I felt like there was nothing that tried to strike a balance between a functional compass and more immersive game play.

This is where Spatial Awareness - A Compass Mod comes into play. I've gone and used FO4Edit to whip up a set of plugins that can the distance you see locations on your compass. I'll list all the details below. This is my first mod so Id appreciate any feedback or idea's you guys may have!

Install
NMM - fully scripted install, just follow the steps to install either a preset or create your own custom settings
Manual - Unzip the file and drag one .esp from the "discovered" folder into your Data folder

Install Options
Vanilla - 100% of vanilla distance
Standard - 70% of vanilla distance
Hard - 50% of vanilla distance
Insane - 30% of vanilla distance
Looking for a Challenge - 10% of vanilla distance
Custom - Set your distance setting to your own tastes, anyone from vanilla ranges all the way down to 10%

Uninstall
Use NMM or delete SpatialAwarenessDiscovered.esp file from your Data folder, that's is!

Change Log
1.00 - Initial release
1.10 - Found some values not doing what they were supposed to do, removed them which unfortunatlly changed the way the mod works a bit. still looking into it though to bring functionality back (thanks to crazyjackal for doing a bunch of testing and pointing it out to me!)

Planned Changes
Add enemy markers with all the same options as locations
Change distances based on actions in game (running, combat, companions) thanks to dunatypon for the suggestion!

Notes
I'd like to give a big shout out to PlausibleSarge for his No Magic Compass -- Fallout 4 Edition mod that inspired me to create my own compass mod. My mod has no option to totally hide everything as his mod handles it great! if you want to hide everything from the compass go give his mod a try!
