Nick Valentine's voice is perfectly human, yet every other second-generation Synth in the game speaks in an echoey, robotic voice. I know Nick is supposed to have more personality than the other robotic Synths, but presumably his voice is produced by the same hardware, right? It's an inconsistency that bugged me so I whipped this up.
All I did was go over Nick's voice files and added a slight echo effect. It's actually quite subtle, but it does the job of making ol' Nicky sound a bit more robotic.
Thanks to user Chibeh for making this awesome video showcase. Note: there are several other mods in use here (including a mod that lets you change Nick's clothes). I don't know what they are; this mod only includes the voice.
Unfortunately the only way to accomplish an effect like this is to dump over 2000 loose files into the data folder, ever since Bethesda eliminated support for .bsa archives in update 1.3. As a result, it's a rather large file and may take a hot minute to download and install. I'd much rather use the game's native audio effect chains to accomplish the same goal, but it doesn't appear to be possible with our current toolset.
Sorry, but I won't be taking requests for alternate versions. I made this mod for myself and I'm happy with how it turned out. I'd be happy to share how I made this file (it wasn't that hard) so that others can make their own personal edits, but don't expect any additional effects.
