Steve40 has joined the exodus from the Nexus (Nexit?) Point is, you may want to see if you can manage something like his work or make your own version. (Personally, I'd love flaregun ammunition that leaves smoke a good distance away to get the guys on the guns to blast them as opposed to, say, ME.

I believe the reason the artillery(smoke) grenades don't have an explosion is because they are just signals for the Artillery canons. that's why they have such a short range as well. I don't think they were intended to be used as regular grenades.

      Yes, I know.
This mod doesn't make them explode, it just increases their throw range.

EDIT: Now that I look at the description again, it does seem like I'm saying I make them explosive. I'll change that around.

and I'm sorry if I sounded like a know-it-all. I totally didn't mean to come off that way.I was just a bit confused, but now that I know what this does I'm going to use it myself.

Not at all! The description was confusing.

But the flares ARE explosive. They are on a timed fuse and they explode silently/invisibly (with a small muzzle flash) which places a Movable Static object on the ground. The MS runs a script that calls the artillery. The invisible wall effect is the timed explosion that drops the MS to the ground.

Aye, I meant that they didn't explode like frag grenades, plasma, etc. in that they don't cause AOE damage on their own.

EDIT: p.s. Your mod is better. Thanks.

Sorry CC, I try not to double-up on other mods, but I had already made a similar mod a while back but hadn't gotten around to uploading it (it's meant to be part of a larger overhaul, including the homing beacons and sub-launched missiles, which I'm still working on). Cheers.

If you don't have it yet, combine this mod with "Angry Artillery" and you will have a badass artillery strike combination

I haven't tried that mod yet, but I've been meaning to.

I don't know that I would call this a cheat or a god item. Maybe the gameplay effects and changes category would be more fitting.

Yeah, I didn't quite know what to call it. I figured it was a cheat because it could be thought that the vanilla distance is an attempt to reduce the potential overpoweredness of artillery strikes.

But I'll go ahead and change the category. Makes more sense there anyway...

Yeah, I didn't think it was a cheat either. Now I don't have to run so damn far when I throw one of these. I once threw one over the ledge at one of those mining areas and I got killed by my own artillery strike.

That was one of my problems with it too. When you throw a grenade, even if it doesn't roll out of your desired target area because of uneven ground, it's still annoying to have to sprint out of range before the first shell goes boom.
