In my dreams, my heaven is a field and on one of the rocks is my beloved cat. She's waiting for me as well.
I do wonder if this gets even more profound when we get older ourselves, and perhaps when both dog and human are near the end, if something like this happens and they go into the great unknown together.
As I wrote in another comment my only sense of spirituality occurred when one of my dogs passed away which is connected to this story. I like the cowboy's saying and in this story it is how I would like to go - join up with the dog pack and become part of nature again.
That was a lovely piece of writing and its nice to be made to "feel" by something like this, lets you know your still human, thanks Jon
So that was partly behind this story. I live alone and most of my family is gone and all my friends now are online. I have some nice coworkers and neighbors but they are not friends I can simply hang out with and be myself. My family supports Trump and I just don't feel connected to them anymore ... and they live to far away for me to visit easily anyhow.
Hence its me and my dogs and my online friends for the most part. So I think about what my own life might be like down the road and it prompted this story. I don't really believe in an afterlife but if there is one, and I get any choice, I want it to be like it is in this story.
