Would be great if there was a little story (or quest) revolving around this when you put it in the game. Something like...
You find a dead ranger at the edge of the map, who was supposed to be a scout, assingned to contact the minutemen in order to establish relations between the two groups and extend the influence of the NCR. But he was ambushed by someone or something - several dead corpses lying around him, testimony to his valiant effort to defend himself - and ultimately met the same fate as the minutemen in the Commonwealth.
Could be a simple text as in his orders in writing or, for extra effort, a holotape. For extra-extra effort it could be a distress signal and you arrive just in time to receive his last words...or something like that.
You think? I've played since Fallout 3, never revisited the older games though. But I read and watch a lot of stuff (only a day ago I "discovered" the "The Storyteller" series on Youtube centering around Fallout lore). So I'm definitely a big fan of lore-friendly stuff, and if it fit's even better.
Gotta say though, after thinking about it again...from the westcoast to the eastcoast is a very, very long trip, specially on foot. IIRC the NCR does not have transportation capabilities comparable to vertibirds, or do they?
The NCR has at least some access to vertibirds, Bear Force One is the presidents vertibird. They got several when the Enclave were chased out of Navarro. And as far as i know several people have journeyed between the coasts successfully by land.
you know there is a wip 4 right? and the geck is not even out yet, neither is the new version ofn nifskope tomy knowlegde. So its not going to be released until they are released and its possible to implement it into the game
I rigged all nekronom, aka Dogtooth's, work for New Vegas. Assuming we have blender import and export scripts, I'll be happy to rig this one too when the time comes.
The question of the flowing duster will depend on what support is added for the fabric physics. Looking at the default skeleton, it doesn't have the right bones. However, the drifter armor has bones going all down the coat. If I had to guess, I'd be confident in saying that it will indeed be supported sooner or later. Just some stuff to figure out first.
@dragbody So in order to rig the coat, you'd have to apply "bones" that are already in other outfits? What about the possibility of altering the bones themselves? Sorry I had to ask because I feel all the bones in any flowing outfits should be dynamic from higher part of the body, like from the mid back, or at least the waist. They all wrap tight around the butts and only free from the upper legs so Bethesda can make people ignore it, but seriously, that's how it should be done.
(I've done all the "skirmishes" with all the Silver Shroud, Bath robe, Laundered Green/Denim Dress,...so far the bath robe and piper's coat are the ones that was rigged properly, unfortunately too short for my taste).
Would be interesting to see if the Piper's trench coat has bones going all down as well? Is it possible to have a full length version of it?
Anyway, what you are doing is awesome. Your professional reply is really valuable.
I don't see why not? The NCR has plenty of Captured Tech off the West Coast Enclave including Vertibirds if Bear Force One is any proof of that. What's to say they haven't heard of the Commonwealth?
It doesn't seem they have that much tech in comparison to the BoS, what virtibirds they have are limited in supply since the only one we've seen from them is Bear Force One. They're also on the complete opposite end of the country and have the Legion acting as a fairly large buffer state that's preventing them from expanding eastward to any significant degree. It would also be highly unlikely for them to go as far as Boston since by the time of Fallout New Vegas they're having pretty serious resource problems and even with Vegas being somewhat close to their territory it was a serious resource drain trying to occupy it. However, it wouldn't be all that unbelievable to see a Ranger or two in the Commonwealth either trying to escape the NCR like Kellogg are just doing a bit of recon.
this would be so killer!!!! i only as if it is possible for it to be a multi layered armor. so you can take off the cote and other things that would be so killer and cool! just throwing what i would do to be honest.
