      Potato Mode = My computer is a potato, in other words, it's so old, and has such bad performance, that even running the game on super tweaked low graphics settings, and manually downscaling almost all textures to 0.5K I still can't get above ~25 FPS with constant stutters and freezes. My motherboard shat itself, and now only recognizes 1 x 2Mb ram stick, and it will only accept my old GTX570 1Mb video card.

      What he said.

      The joke is a combination of GLADoS (a nearly omnipotent homicidal AI) being stuck running on a potato battery for much of Portal 2, and the general idea of a potato battery being used to run something as power-hungry as a computer.

      Also, in extreme cases, the textures on a "potato computer" can be so resolution they actually look much like the splotchy skin of, yep, a potato.

      And...I just killed the joke. Sorry, internet!
