Founded shortly after the sole survivor first joined the Minutemen, Sanctuary began as a small, desolate shantytown just barely surviving in the harsh wasteland. Feeling an attachment to his old home, the sole survivor decided to establish his base in his former neighborhood. As he rose through the ranks of the Minutemen, he devoted himself to rebuilding civilization and providing security and prosperity throughout the Commonwealth. And Sanctuary quickly grew as the new capital of the burgeoning Minutemen Empire.
