Fallout 4

Update process from v1.x to v1.3

First of all, this is not an emergency update or anything.  If you are currently mid-game using v1.2.1 and do not want to lose the basements you've built, you can wait to upgrade until later, when you're ready to start a new game.

v1.3 does require a clean save if you are updating mid-game, which means the basements will completely revert!

Due to some scripting changes, this was unavoidable.  Again, DO NOT UPDATE if you don't want to have to do a clean save procedure and lose your basements.

If you DO want to update mid-game, here's what you need to do.

  • BACK UP YOUR SAVE!  This is always a good idea in case you need to downgrade.
  • Before upgrading, go into your basement and remove any items you wish to keep 'cos the cells are going to revert.
  • Go aboveground to your settlement (leave the Basement)
  • Save your game.  If you can use the console, use the savegame command and name it something descriptive like savegame "Updating Basement Living to v1-3"
  • Quit and uninstall Basement Living v1.2.X
  • Load the game you just saved, and click "Yes/OK" on the warnings about missing plugins
  • Save your game one more time.  It's now "clean" of prior versions.
  • Quit and install Basement Living v1.3
  • Load up that most recent 'clean' save you made in the previous step and start making basements! Again, they will be reverted to their original form.

And that's that!  Let me know if you have any troubles.
