Updates
=====================================
6/18/09: Well, it sure has been a long time. As I said in a recent post, between being a new dad, carrying two jobs and trying to get my degree at night (yeah, you know, that old sob story) I let my precious mod go to the way side of life. But! There is good news, I have been approached by other modders who wish to use my resources, and I whole heartily wish for JUST THAT!

I am tempted to re-title this as a Modders Resource, since I spent many many hours making the work that is in this mod, the last thing on earth I want is to foolishly hord the contents like some kind of mod hermit. But then, it can still be used in conjuncture with other UU mods out there, so I will just leave it as is for now.

So, too all modders: Please! Use the models & or Textures in this mod for your own. If you do, be sure to include me in the credits. I am currently speaking to one mod'r in particular who I would likely invest any additional work with. Life shows no sign of slowing down atm, but when it does maybe I can do a couple more textures or something. Thank you mod community, and thank you Nexus!

12-25-08: .04 is released. Two new meshes and a retex. One new mesh for the Stab Happy (threw out the last one I made) it's now a 1970 "knuckle duster" trench knife. A new mesh, a ridiculously big "gutting" knife for the Ant's Sting, and a quick retex of Butch's switch blade, cleaned up (it's never left a vault after all) with gold trim (so you may wish to keep it on display I dunno whatever).

Sorry for the slower than usual update, the holiday have been crazy, and bear down on my IRL work. Also, I am wanting to release 2-3 weapons at a time, instead of updating after each new one. This way each update is 2 or 3 times as valuable than before =) . Merry Christmas or if you don't like that, then happy holidays.

12-10-08: .03 is born! The Stab Happy is now a mean looking trench knife, with new "deeper" normals and modified shiny texture for the blade. Took a bit longer than I had anticipated, I had to learn to make meshes/export nifs for Fo3, Jaysus's tutorial and a msc sword tutorial on the Obliv cs wiki (I did not see authors name, sorry) helped me figure all this stuff out. Then the mesh was reflecting funny in game, took me a while to figure that one out, exporting is delicate business. I have a system down now =) Mesh editing will be much fast from this point forward. Where do I go from here? Probably the other unique knives, since I am in a knife frame of mind.

12-04-08: Added new textures (with normals and b_maps) for the Highway Mans Friend (unique tire iron) and the Reservists Rifle (Sniper Rifle) for a total of three new textures. I know I said I would be doing melee and heavy weapons first, but I have decided to take a more random approach. There's no reason to leave small weapons fans out to dry.

Just copy and paste the files in (see below if you need help). I realized you don't need to use archiveinvalidation, since these are new files. Archiveetc...txt is used to "trick" the game into using files it wouldn't normally, not entirely new models like -UU- uses.

Foreword:
=====================================
After finding a named weapon in the game, I was unimpressed with their appearance. I found myself selling them as I found them, not really having a sense that these weapons were one of a kind. I had been wanting to edit some textures for a while, and thought this would be a worthwhile pursuit. I was unaware that the games file structure (edited with FOMM) was as complicated as it is, and saw a challenge I could really get into. Editing these "unique items" requires you to edit the old mesh, texture, and item profile in the fallout3.esm (later made into an .esp).

What does it do?:
=====================================
Replaces the "Jack" ripper's old texture with a new one. Actually, it's a copy of the normal ripper mesh, pointed to new textures. Other weapons are currently being worked on by me, but are as of yet not ready for public use. (Jack took about 4 hours of editing, to put it in perspective).

I will keep a running tally of items completed on the nexus link for the mod.

The texture has "Flying Tigers" themed "nose art" on the blade.

=====================================
What does it NOT do?:
=====================================
It's not compatible with any other mods that replaces existing "unique" weapons values. I do use several mods myself that edit weapon damage values, due to the limitations in editing at the moment they will all conflict. In the future, I may select a few of my favorite mods and make this compatible with them, just not at the moment.

Nothing Kitsch or pop will be used in the themes of the textures, unless it's pre 60's kitsch or pop. No "Miley Cirrus" weapons or "Batman" armor. Everything will have a Pre/Mid-Korean war style to it. Most textures will look worn.

Install Instructions:

In the included Txt file.

Note: I will always include -UU- in the name of the file listing for easy searching in the future.

Interested in helping?:

I began to realize the required scope of this project, it is big, and time consuming. I realized it would be much smarter to open this as a project, for not one, but several modders to partake in. A chance to show off their talent for a worth wile cause (Fixing a lack luster part of the game). Even if everyone is working on a new sword, at least there will be more options for everyone to chose from.

I myself am starting with the 1hand weapons, I will then be moving on to the heavy weapons. (Because I like the way they look best :D). Eventually, my plan is to have a new texture for the majority of Unique weapons/armors. I encourage any of you modders out there, to take a look at the file structure from the .esm file I have included, which will help you get your bearings. I plan to expand on explanation of the process later for those who are not familiar with it.

If you are a modder and are interested, please use the nexus, and start your file listing as -UU- Etc..., for easy searching by others. Also, please send me a msg on the nexus, so I can add a link to the "-UU- Unique Uniques" main file I have up.
