Description
===========
This small mod reduce the evil auto targetting feature that should be useful when playing on a console with a gamepad, but is really annoying on a PC with a mouse.

Details
=======
One time when playing, I had carefully placed some mines on the ground and I planned to shoot at them when the ennemies would be around those. Unfortunately when I fired, all my bullets went right through the ennemy's center, and not at all where I was aiming ... this was quite annoying.

I guess this auto targetting feature is uesful for the console players, when they have less accuracy with the gamepad. But for PC players this is awful.
So I made this small plugin that completely removes the targetting assist (but it does not remove the spread of your bullets that depends on your weapon skills).

Update
======
Unfortunately things were not all that simple. It appears that the game is also using this auto aiming feature in order to have your bullets go toward your crosshair. I didn't tester enough the first version, and some people reported that with some weapons, the bullets were not anymore hitting at your crosshair, but under it for the .44 magnum, to its right for the hunting rifle, etc ...
After a lot of guessing and questions, I think that I got it :
If we completely remove the auto aim features, the game fire your bullets from your weapon, parrallel to the 3d model (like it should be physically). The only issue is that every weapon is somehow differently aligned, the .44 magnum is slightly pointing under the crosshair, the hunting rifle is pointing at its right, etc ... so without the auto aim enabled, the crosshair is not really anymore where you are aiming, and it is different for each weapon.
basically the auto aim feature redirect your bullets toward the center of the screen.
This would be a great feature, and I wouldn't try to change it, if the same feature wasn't also used in combat as a targetting help. When your crosshair is near the bounding box of an enemy's limb, the auto aim feature stops to retarget your bullets to the crosshair, but instead targets them towars the nearest limb. This is especially visible when you try to shoot at the ground just in front of an enemy (shooting a mine for example).
So the best way to have a real no auto aim mod, would be simply to keep the "target toward crosshair" and remove the "target nearest limb" feature ... but unfrtunately those two seems to be completely tied and I didn't find yet any way to change that.

so with this updated version, I simply reduced the minimum the distance needed between your crosshair and an enemy in order to auto target him, but since it seems to work with overlapping bounding boxes, unfortunately there is still some auto targetting when shooting at the feet of the enemy. But it is much less annoying, and in my test games I was able now to hit some mines when the enemy were almost on them, so this is still an improvement.

I'll try to see if I can make this better, but I fear that to go further we will need the CS or a FOSE.

I hope that this toned down version will still be enjoyable to you and will enhance your gameplay :)

(another way to reduce even more those issues would be to rework the guns first person models and have them more aligned toward the center of the screen, if any of you wants to try that ... :D)

1.1, 2008/11/14 - it is now "Less auto aim" and no more "no auto aim". The third person issues have been fixed, you are now again targetting at your crosshair (well, in the same way than in vanillas). Auto targetting to enemies is reduced, but not completely removed.
