Reduces or removes tracers for most ammo in popular mods.

1. DESCRIPTION

This small mod contains my attempt to increase a bit immersion of FO3 play process.

One of the immersion breakers in FO3 is presence of tracers for bullet projectiles. This is not a big deal in case of real-time combat and actually it is a question of taste. Plus, usually in a lot of mods, patches and fixes projectile definitions have tracer chance = 0. But unfortunately this parameter is completely ignored by VATS. So we see projectiles there and we have even worse case in VATS. Sometimes from VATS camera we can see that tracer begins somewhere from eye of shooting PC. Or very unnatural case when tracer begins from behind his head.

What can we do in this case: reduce or remove tracers from projectiles themselves. Technically, tracer is a separate branch in projectile mesh. According to that there are several ways to fix tracers in VATS issue:
1. Edit mesh in Blender and make tracer shorter.
2. Scale tracer to be smaller (shorter and thinner).
3. Remove tracer completely.

In this mod I've made two last fixes: made 20% tracer version and no tracer version.

Currently mod contains tracers fix for:
  • xCalibr v2.3.
  • 20th Century Weapons v5.12 and possible derived mods
  • FWE
  • Several vanilla&DLC projectiles




2. INSTALLATION

Files are BAIN-ready so they could be successfully installed using Wrye Flash. Choose only one version: "000 Tracers 20%" or "000 No tracers" and install.

Mod could be installed manually. Just unpack contents of one of the option folders present in archive ("000 Tracers 20%" or "000 No tracers") to the FO3 Data folder.

Mod options should be installed after affected mods: meshes from my fix should overwrite original ones.


3. COMPATIBILITY

Mod will conflict with any other mod replacing projectiles from patched mods. But generally such conflicts can cause no issues: if other mod overwrite meshes from this mod, this will only lead to return of tracers for some projectiles.

This mod has no plugin or master files so load order is not an issue :)
