About this mod

Adds a network of dropboxes at various merchants around the Capital Wasteland, allowing items to be easily shipped from one location to another.

Permissions and credits
This is a very basic implementation of the Mojave Express dropboxes from New Vegas in Fallout 3, allowing you to easily send items across the wasteland. Since Fallout 3's GECK functions aren't as robust as those for New Vegas, I had to make some compromises but the basic functionality is there.

With this mod, you will find dropboxes (using the base game blue mailbox model) added to the store locations of various merchants and vendors along the caravan trade routes, making this mod lore friendly. Imagine that some of the caravaneers work for Capital Express, carrying items from one box to another. There are five dropboxes in total.

  • Craterside Supply (Megaton)
  • Rivet City Marketplace
  • Lock and Load (Paradise Falls)
  • Smiling Jack's (Evergreen Mills)
  • Porter's CafĂ© (Canterbury Commons)

I used entirely base game assets, so installation is as simple as extracting the ESP file to your Fallout 3/Data directory. You do not need any DLC for this to work.

KNOWN ISSUES

I am by no means an expert modder, so there are bound to be issues that I'm not skilled enough to fix. For instance, the Fallout 3 GECK does not have a function (that my research could find, at any rate) to determine if a container is full. This means that I wasn't able to add any feedback messages such as, "There are no items in this dropbox!" if you try to retrieve items from an empty box. Furthermore, sometimes when you go to the box that you shipped your items to, it will show the [EMPTY] tag at the bottom, but you can still retrieve your items just fine. You will also have to remember where you shipped your items to, as the base game blue mailbox model doesn't have a flag or anything that indicates if there's anything inside. I also had to set the ownership of the dropboxes to Player, otherwise the text would come up red on the boxes located indoors.

If you find any major issues (or know a way to fix any of the ones I've mentioned) feel free to leave a comment to let me know!
