Timescale Adjuster v2.2
CarlCorey

Version update info: You can just install this over 2.1 and overwrite the files, your timescale setting should remain intact. If you have a version earlier than 2.1, please uninstall the old version of Timescale Adjuster before you install version 2.2. The file "Timescale Adjuster.esp" is now "Timescale Adjuster.esm". Just installing this over the older version will leave an extra file in the Data directory and confuse things. You will need to redo your timescale settings if you had changed them from the defaults.

Description:
Dynamically changes the timescale based on player location. There is another mod that does this in a different way. I wanted a little more location specific control and direct support for all of the DLC packages. There are DLC enabled and Vanilla versions of the esp file. You can use the Vanilla version even if you have DLC installed and it will work fine for the most part. I'll talk about where it doesn't down below. The DLC version requires all 5 DLC packages.

When you start or load a game after installing this, you will be given a new Pip-Boy accessory which you can use to adjust the timescale settings for various locations. The accessory will be on your Apperal tab. To activate the settings menu, select the accessory in the Pip-Boy. The menu will then pop up when the Pip-Boy is put away. The locations you can set specific timescales for are as follows, the default/staring values in parentheses.

  • Combat (1) - any time you are in combat regardless of your location
  • Exteriors (30) - generally the wasteland. Any outdoor location that isn't otherwise specifically set
  • Interiors (5) - houses and buildings. Any interior location that isn't a metro, cave, tunnel, vault or otherwise specifically set
  • DC above ground (20) - any downtown DC location including the Washinton Monument, Statesman Hotel roof and GNR rooftop
  • Metros, Caves and Tunnels (20) - with a couple exceptions mentioned below, pretty much just what it says. Includes the Mobile Base Crawler in Broken Steel and portions of Mothership Zeta
  • Vaults (20) - all vault spaces (New inV2)
  • Megaton (15) - the exterior area inside the city walls
  • Citadel Bailey (15) - the exterior area inside the Citadel
  • Paradise Falls (15) - the exterior area inside Paradise Falls
  • Oasis (15) - all of Oasis
  • Tranquility Lane simulation (5) - all interiors and exteriors during the simulation (New in V2)
  • The Pitt Exteriors (30) - all of the Pitt except the Mill and Supply Plant (New in V2)
  • The Pitt Mill and Supply Plant (20) - The Pitt Mill and Supply Plant (New in V2)
  • Opertation Anchorage simulation (5) - all interiors and exteriors during the simulation (New in V2)
  • Mothership Zeta Bridge and Engineering Core (5) - those two areas of the ship (New in V2)
  • Mothership Zeta "dungeons" (20) - the rest of the ship excluding the Space Walk (New in V2)
  • Mothership Zeta Space Walk (30) - outside the ship (New in V2)
You can also pause and resume the adjuster from this menu in case the timescale adjustment is causing any problems in certain situations or with another mod.

Requirement:
Fallout Script Extender (FOSE) version 1.2 or later. You can download this from http://fose.silverlock.org/

Some notes:
I was a little subjective in my definition of "Metros, Caves and Tunnels" in a couple cases. The Fairfax Metro, Northwest Seneca and the portion of the Meresti Metro that The Family occupies are considered "Interiors". In the DLC version, the Costal Grotto on Point Lookout is also considered an "Interior".

The Tranquility Lane simulation and the Anchorage simulation in the DLC version each have a single setting regardless of whether you appear to be outdoors. This is to represent the unreality of the simulations and that perhaps time in the "real world" and perceived time in the simulation perhaps don't always match.

In general, if you use the Vanilla version, most of the DLCs will behave pretty well with some exceptions:
  • The Operation Anchorage simulation will follow Interior and Exterior rules and not be treated specially. Bailey's Crossroads Metro will be "Interior"
  • Broken Steel locations will all be Interiors and Exteriors; Metros, tunnels and the Mobile Base Crawler will all be "Interiors"
  • The Pitt, likewise
  • Point Lookout has very few locations that need special handling. Herzog Mine and Kenny's Cave will be "Interior"
  • All of Mothership Zeta will be "Interior"

Installation:
You can install manually or via a mod manager. The mod has a texture for the Pip-Boy icon an esm file and two esp files. These files are:

  • Timescale Adjuster.esm - totally vanilla, no requirements other than Fallout3.esm. Required.
  • Timescale Adjuster DLC.esp - special consideration for DLC specific locations. Requires ALL FIVE DLCs and Timescale Adjuster.esm
  • Timescale Adjuster See You.esp - compatibility adjustments for co-existence with See You - Time for Bed by sesom. Requires that mod and Timescale Adjuster.esm

If you install via NMM or other FOMOD aware mod manager, it should detect whether you have all five DLCs and whether you have See You - Time for Bed installed and install the appropriate plug-ins.

To uninstall, remove the esm and esp files and the file textures/interface/timescaleadjuster/Pip-Boy Accessory.dds
