/// - Its my very first mod, that's what !

This is a "New-Land" mod. It brings you up the old rail lines from Washington D.C.; to Philadelphia, PA; to Newark, NJ; etc. Feel free to explore the new land! Meet the people! Find the new items! There will be many quests that you encounter before you reach the end.

/// - YOU CANNOT GO BACK TO D.C. UNTIL YOU FINISH THE MAIN QUEST LINE

Make extra saves if you don't want to be stuck there. This will give you a few hours of game-play. It's a rough estimate because the people I've watched have taken drastically different lengths of time. Your character build directly affects the game. Your race/sex/SPECIAL/Perks will change dialog options, attitudes, and even objects and locations. For now, this is mostly seen in dialogue changes, but in future versions will be more pronounced throughout the game.

Also, if you feel confused as to what to do (or maybe there is no map marker) perhaps you should change quests. You will often have three or more open quests that you can jump between. This is intentional.

/// - What does this change ?

This only adds a tent outside the citadel with a NPC, and adds a train tunnel to the North West, near the tunnel to Pennsylvania. In the end, it adds a way to go back and forth just outside Canterbury Commons. After that, everything else is added. New lands, new NPCs, new items/weapons, new quests, new friends, etc.
As of now, there are no new textures that affect the game. Vanilla or otherwise.

/// - What am I doing here ?

The simple answer to that is your first quest: Find a connection to New York City. However, in order to do that, you will need to locate the illusive "Ironbound Recluse".

From there, you will find yourself between two warring pre-war colleges. Well, it's a bit one-sided. Institute J, as it's become known as since the Great War, has devoted its services to advancing medicine and engineering for the betterment for the general population. They are peaceful researchers and doctors. On the other side is what has become known as "The Rut". The Rut is inhabited by raiders who would sooner tear down their own base than cooperate with Institute J. And subsequently, they have. Thus the giant rut in the ground.

There is also the Ironbound to the South East. A safe haven of Asian Americans, they are unknowingly the targets of the Enclave Remnants just outside New York City in Liberty Island. But they are defended by a rebel youth movement "The Red Successors". Motivated and empowered by Chinese propaganda, the movement protects the Chinese-Americans in the Ironbound, but the group is a bit secretive. The general population of the Ironbound are proud Americans, or at least complacent enough not to take sides. Only the more radical members are picked for the Red Successors.

"The Ark" is even more of an enigma. Blocked off from the rest of the city by raised highways. It is said to be a Utopia inside their walls. Traders come from far and wide to the Krating Daeng Stadium, just outside the city walls. But so far, no one has been allowed in. The city is well defended, and aerial attempts at getting in have also ended in... disaster.

/// - What's next ?

There is more to come! The HUDS, a group of Super Mutants from the Hudson River area, will be added to the east. The Underground Society of the
Blighted (USB), a group of ghouls banished to the subway system, will be added throughout the city's many subways. The Poor Kings, a misfit band of
raiders, will be sprinkled throughout, especially near the HUDS and Ironbound areas. The Kearny Marsh Fields, a radioactive swamp suffering
as the byproduct of the Ark, will be added to the North East. Lots of side missions, and optional quests are in the works as well. Including a haunted hotel, heavily based off Sci-Fi references like Dr. Who, Star Trek, The Justice League, etc.

Fallout 3 GOTY (Or at least have all the DLC offered by Bethesda.)

/// - Installation

  • Download the .esp file
  • Drag the .esp file into your Data folder under Fallout 3 goty or wherever you installed (you need GOTY or all the DLC)
  • Use the "Data Files" option on the launcher to "check" the Newark Mod.
  • If you are using other options for mods, I'm afraid I cannot help you. If you have helpful information about that, please let me know

/// - Compatibility

Unless you've got another mod which edit the same parameters, as always... I invite you to report every encountered bug, assuming you've done all the necessary to check wether or not my mod is the real faulter. Load order : you can place wherever you want, unless another of your mods edit the same entries.

/// - Notes (Please Read)

The water is messed up in the new lands, I know. I am working on it.
The lands are also not completely navmeshed yet, so bring companions at your own risk.
