DOWN BUT NOT OUT
----------------------------------------------------------
VERSION: 1.2 Full Release

1.1 NOTE: This version just improves knockout detection Courtesy of one grneely, who did all the investigation, all I did was test verify the fix wouldn't break anything and release it like 3 months after I said I would. Thanks!

1.1 NOTE: IF you have been using this, I apologize, there's been an error in the past versions which will often permanently strip the quest item status of some items. Please update to the 1.1 version to fix this issue occurring in the future. Sorry (^_^);;

1.0 NOTE: With this release I have achieved my original goal for this mod, and am finished with development for now, outside of Bug Fixes I can figure out, which you can report via the comments or bug reports sections of Nexus, and I will do my best to fix.

DESCRIPTION:
----------------------------------------------------------
"Down But Not Out" is difficult to describe in just a few words, but the basic gist is this: A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF DEATH!

This mod takes what normally happens when you are defeated in combat (i.e. Gruesome Death), and give you a few more options:

 1.    You can be left for dead in the wasteland,
 2.    You can be enslaved.
 3.    You can be Jailed by certain factions.

The mod is exhaustively configurable, and puts a lot of the details up to the user.

So if you've ever wanted something different to happen when you screw up a fight, this mod is for you.

Currently the Only Compatibility this has with DLC is that it will disable the mod while in DLC Spaces such that you will die normally instead of being awkwardly warped back to the wasteland.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK! I realize this is possibly quite confusing, and I don't always explain things well, so if you have a question, ask away in the comments, and I'll do my best to answer you.

DLC VERSION NOTE:
If you have the DLC version, currently all this does in terms of death disabling is disable DBNO functions when in their respective areas, so that you don't have to worry about getting warped to the Wasteland.  However if you have the DLC it is important to use it, as it patches the mod for healing items added by DLC, which can cause false positive knockouts.

I may eventually add some DLC sections, but no promises Fallout 4 Approaches and I have little free time.

DETAILS:
----------------------------------------------------------
As Stated above "Down But Not Out" takes steps to overhaul death, and allows you to configure it to your taste.

How it works: DBNO uses a variety of quests and items to monitor the player and enemies during combat. It will select enemies targeting the player and then decide a course of action based on the mods settings. At a configurable level of damage, the player will start to bleed out, and eventually be knocked out. Alternatively, the player will be reduced to 0 health, and will be knocked out. A short passing out scene will play, and then the player will be looted, moved, set to configurable wake up conditions, and be woken up in a new location.

The specific path that happens after you are knocked out depends on the mod's settings (configured by you), and who you are facing in combat:

1. If you are defeated by someone in a faction that will "Leave you for dead," you will wake up at another location in the wasteland, with someone to help you get back on your feet.

2. If you are defeated by someone who will sell you into slavery, you will wake up in Paradise Falls, and have to find a way to escape, or perish.

3. If you are defeated by someone who will jail you, you will wake up in the jail appropriate for whatever faction has defeated you. Each faction Jail has it's own options and means of serving time, paying a bounty and/or escaping.

4. You also have the option to disable the mod for any faction, meaning that faction will still kill you.

Again, all of these are configurable by you to match your preference. The default settings are what I think is most lore friendly, but I'm open to polite suggestions.

"Down But Not Out" will automatically disable itself during a few quests in the game, to try and prevent any game breaking results. (Spoilers) It will not run:

    1.    Until you leave Vault 101 for the first time.
    2.    During Tranquility Lane's simulation.
    3.    During your escape from Project Purity.
    4.    while you are trapped in Raven Rock.
    5.    During Take it Back's Assault on Project Purity.
    6.    While you are captured as a slave (Added by this mod).
    7.    While in DLC areas outside the capital wasteland (DLC VERSION ONLY).

During these times, Fallout should function normally, meaning your character will die.

Bugs / Issues:
----------------------------------------------------------
-This is is only companion tested/friendly for Vanilla Companions, Because of the somewhat individual nature of companion mods, I cannot account for them all, so I cannot guarantee their behavior.

-If you use a mod that makes healing items heal over time instead of instantly, this will mess with detection of the player getting knocked out. You will have to use either the Health Threshold Knockout or hold the Numpad "*" (Asterisk) key to continue on from being knocked out.

-DLC VERSION NOTE:
Some weapons that have extra health damage added to enemies by DLC seem to cause an engine bug that ends up still triggering the death cutscene. I'm not currently sure how to resolve this. Watch out for Super Mutant Overlords!

-Probably a few I don't know about. This is really violating the engine in a lot of ways, so don't be too surprised if it fouls up. Sorry, but that's modding.

IF YOU HAVE A BUG: Be a dear and report it in the comments so that I can attempt to address it.
PLEASE BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE: Tell me where you were knocked out, by whom, What your character seemed to be doing, and anything else relevant to the nature of the bug.
