About this mod

Seamlessly implements a whistle (with sound and pip-boy icon) that causes Dogmeat to haul ass (at 1.5x speed) from wherever he is to the player, completely ignoring combat, ensuring that he doesn't get downed so often. (FIXED 2/18)

I. Introduction
Dogmeat's a great companion, but honestly, he can't really hold his own against a behemoth or a horde of ferals. Some mods try to resolve this by either buffing Dogmeat's stats, or implenting a ridiculous mechanic that teleports him to the player or causes him to vanish entirely until the fight is over. In contrast, this mod seamlessly utilizes a whistle that forces Dogmeat out of a fight and back to the player's side, where he can be healed (and reprimanded) as much as the player feels is necessary.

II. Details
1. Dog Whistle
To aquire the whistle, simply tell Dogmeat to find something for you (i.e., chems, ammo, or food); when he returns, he'll give you the whistle as well as whatever else he found. The whistle is a weightless quest item, so it shouldn't hinder any inventory space. To use it, just activate it from the pip-boy, and Dogmeat will do the rest. The A.I. package that Dogmeat uses is a temporary "Travel" package, allowing him to run to the player's side and then proceed with following him. The whistle can be activated as long as Dogmeat is "hired" by the player, meaning he can be called from any position (waiting, in combat, or simply falling behind). The "Travel" package is deactivated as soon as Dogmeat is close to the player.

III. How to Install
1. Download this mod from the nexus
2. Extract the contents of the mod the Data folder within your Fallout 3 Directory (allow Windows Explorer to merge necessary folders)
3. Checkmark this mod in your mod index (NMM or FOMM, most likely), and you're ready to go

IV. Bugs and Compatibility
Haven't spent very much time testing other than basic mechanics, but so far, I can't see any bugs on the horizon. One of Dogmeat's dialogue lines is modified to put the whistle into the player's inventory, but I doubt that would cause any issues. Please let me know if any of you find a problem and I will fix it immediatly.

Thanks to Oleg1969 for the primitive design that I based this mod off of (I didn't use any of his content, just the idea).
