Greetings fellow rad-o-philes!
During the quest 'Escape', upon reaching the room just behind the Overseer's secret door into the Vault 101 entrance, have you ever wondered why that room is so empty? I have. I've seen starter equipment mods that place gear outside the vault with no explanation as to why it hasn't been looted. This mod places handy gear inside this sealed room that you pass through on your way out of the vault.
Since this is a secret room that only the Overseer would have access to, right next to the exit, it seems reasonable that he would want to be prepared if he had to evacuate in an emergency. After all, reactors can leak, residents can riot, things happen. There are some guns, ammo, clothing, provisions, and trade goods. Included are a couple of unique items that are in the game files but not implemented in the game; namely Explorer's Gear clothing and Wanda, a unique assault rifle; at 0% condition. I had to do something to balance this mod. This gear has been setting here a while without maintenance and isn't in the best condition.
There is also a compatibility patch for Vault 101 Overhaul by crazyplaya. It is an esp replacer that adds these items to the same room in his mod.
Only run one of these files. If you do run both, these items will be loaded twice and clipped together in the room. Twice the loot but you probably can't carry it all!
UPDATE: The Vault 101 Overhaul patch had a small error. I used the Rivet City helmet instead of the Vault 101 Security helmet. This has been corrected in the new file.
Also UPDATE: Oops! I forgot ammo for one of the guns. Fixed in 1.1
