Radioactive Bites and Stings

Version 2.0

by Sealurk

If you use Mart's Mutant Mod you can find a patch to make Radioactive Bites & Stings work with it here, courtesy of Deadmano.
Don't forget you will still need the original mod!
Description
===========

Putting the 'rad' back in radroach (and radscorpion)!

Radiation never quite seemed like the ever-present hazard I felt it should be. There are plenty of mods that deal with radiation as a whole, however I preferred to work on increasing the ways your character can be irradiated.

Now, when bitten or stung by several of the arthropod (and necrotic post-human) denizens of the Capital Wasteland you will take radiation damage relative to the size of the creature that attacked you. Radroaches, Bloatflies, Giant Ants, Radscorpions and Feral Ghouls will now irradiate you when they hit you (note that Feral Ghoul Reavers and Glowing Ones are not included yet as they require more work in the GECK).

I've tried to ensure that no one creature can inflict enough radiation in a single instance of combat to radically alter your radiation level, however if left unchecked it just might be enough to tip the balance - and while you're in combat with the larger and meaner types of radscorpion radiation is likely to be the least of your concerns!

In the case of radroaches and bloatflies you'll probably find that, as with radroaches and bloatflies in general, an individual is of negligible threat value, but left unchecked a group of them attacking in concert might just make the difference between Minor and Advanced Radiation Poisoning.

Details
=======
The actual radiation damage sustained will of course vary depending on your character's radiation resistance, but the GECK values for the different versions are listed below. You only need one .esp active, the Double Strength optional file is a standalone copy of v2.0 but with doubled radiation for that extra challenge.

Inflicted radiation as of v2.0 Double Strength:

Radroach: 4 rads for 2 seconds
Bloatfly: 6 rads for 2 seconds
Small Radscorpion: 4 rads for 5 seconds
Large Radscorpion: 10 rads for 5 seconds
Albino Radscorpion: 16 rads for 4 seconds
Giant Ant Worker: 4 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Soldier: 6 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Warrior / Nest Guardian: 8 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Queen: 12 rads for 3 seconds
Feral Ghoul: 6 rads for 2 seconds
Feral Ghoul Roamer: 8 rads for 2 seconds

Inflicted radiation as of v2.0:

Radroach: 2 rads for 2 seconds
Bloatfly: 3 rads for 2 seconds
Small Radscorpion: 2 rads for 5 seconds
Large Radscorpion: 5 rads for 5 seconds
Albino Radscorpion: 8 rads for 4 seconds
Giant Ant Worker: 2 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Soldier: 3 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Warrior / Nest Guardian: 4 rads for 3 seconds
Giant Ant Queen: 6 rads for 3 seconds
Feral Ghoul: 3 rads for 2 seconds
Feral Ghoul Roamer: 4 rads for 2 seconds

Inflicted radiation as of v1.0:

Radroach: 2 rads for 2 seconds
Small Radscorpion: 2 rads for 5 seconds
Large Radscorpion: 5 rads for 5 seconds
Albino Radscorpion: 8 rads for 4 seconds

Compatibility
=============

This mod should be compatible with pretty much everything that doesn't try to add radiation to bites and stings or else substantially modify radroaches, radscorpions, ants, bloatflies or ghouls. All I have done for most of these creatures is add an 'enchantment' to their unarmed attack (modified poison spell for radscorpions and projectile for bloatflies) that generates radiation damage called Radioactive Bite or Radioactive Trauma.

You will need Broken Steel to use this as Albino Radscorpions and Feral Ghoul Reavers are included in the affected creatures. I will produce a version that does not include these and thus does not require Broken Steel if there are enough requests.

Future
======

Depending on feedback I may alter the values of the radiation damage and / or do the same for other creatures. I also want to create a workaround to allow Feral Ghoul Glowing Ones and Reavers to produce radiation trauma when they hit you as they already have unarmed attack 'enchantments'.
