NEWS:
Big thanks to Tarvis2 for showcasing this mod in his Youtube series. Check out his video in the video section.

GENERAL INFO:
This was a simple mod I made to show someone my technique for making weapons to switch between things like ammo types, selective fire, scoped or open sites, suppressed, etc.

Full credit for the weapons go to Moraelin and his awesome mod Cool Lasers HD. All I did was add the scripting for the switching between open sites and scoped.

Moraelin's full version has more versions of the base weapon including rifle and sniper versions. My own mod MERC 2 also has these versions with the scripting for the switching in the upcoming 1.5 version. Please endorse Moraelin and his work as well as mine if you feel it is deserved, but especially his work.

This heavy laser pistol, due to larger internal heatsinks and extra vents, can handle firing 25% more shots per second than standard lasers. This is an automatic pistol and can deal more damage, but at a cost of more ammo used if you go crazy with it. Repair is done via standard Laser Weapons and the ammo used is Small Energy Cells.

HOW IT WORKS:
-For the non-FOSE version-
To switch between open and scoped all you have to do is pick the weapon in your inventory. A menu will pop up asking which you would like to equip. Keep in mind that you only have one weapon that will switch modes. You will not see or get both at the same time. Essentially you are taking the scope on and off the one weapon.
-For the FOSE version-
Simply hit the H key on your keyboard to switch between scoped and non-scoped. This version requires FOSE.

INSTALL: Use Fallout Mod Manager or Nexus Mod Manager to activate either a v1 or v2 esp FOSE or Non-FOSE file depending on your preferences. See Known Bugs below to help you decide which one you prefer.

Strange, missing or rotating textures? Use either Fallout Mod Manager, Nexus Mod Manager OR ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated.

KNOWN "BUG":
There is a issue with the standard version where if you allow your MT2 to get to 0 health(broken) and then in your menu try to switch to the other weapon version (scoped or non-scoped) the MT2 will revert to 100% health. This is a bug with how the GECK defines weapon health in 2 different ways. If you use the standard v1 esp keep this in mind and don't try to pick the weapon once it is broken...unless you want the 100% repair done.
To "fix" this I added a second version or v2 esp file. This version actually uses its own damaged weapon message to bypass this bug. The only side effect I notice is every time you try to equip the broken MT2 the pipboy will drop down and the broken message will appear. I only mention this because it is a little bit different than how the vanilla game shows it.
The FOSE versions do not have this bug. I made the v1 and v2 FOSE versions simply to give you the option if for some reason you like the way v2 handles the broken weapon.

HOW TO GET IT:
For now it sits outside the Vault 101 entrance as you exit outside. Since this was a requested technique mod I do not have a storyline for it. If you want a story then come find my mod MERC 2 on the Nexus.

CONFLICTS:
It should not conflict with Moraelin's original mod since I changed the id names. If you have MERC 2 version 1.5 installed you can uninstall this mod since MERC 2 has the same exact weapon already. You don't have to uninstall it, but you can.

LICENSE:
Most of the weapon, with the exception of the Energy Cell, is the work or Moraelin and he has released it in the public domain. You can do whatever you wish with it. I, VforVic, am responsible for the scripting that allows the switching between modes.

Please give credit where credit is due. In other words please credit Moraelin and myself for our respective work. If you do use any part of this mod please inform me of your work so I could take a look see.

The exceptions are the sounds and the battery, which are Bethesda's. In practical terms this means that it's ok to use it for Fallout 3 or New Vegas (both of which include the laser pistol they were taken from), but if you want to port it to another game, you'll have to replace them with something else. Then again, most other games won't have this particular reloading animation anyway, so you'll probably have to add some sort of magazine of your own instead. Shouldn't be too hard.

VERSION HISTORY:
1.2: Lowered Health and Value settings. Minor fix with FOSE version going to 0% health.
