About this mod

Adds a King County Sheriff uniform complete with hat & a Stainless Steel Colt Python .357 Magnum as used by Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead.

Permissions and credits
20 Jan 2015 - Added an optional update of the Colt Python model.

The original was made using only Nifskope before I could use Blender.

The original model was an adaptation of the vanilla .44 to make it look as much like a Python as I could manage.

Once I learnt to use Blender I went back & modeled the Python more accurately.

I've been meaning to upload the new model for some time but kept getting side tracked. :)

The Update is the new weapon model plus display case & poster modified to reflect the gun's changes.

New users will need the main file then the Update, assuming they wish to use the new model.

Current users need only to install the Update over their existing King County mod, saying yes to overwrites.

Hope you enjoy!

Adds a King County Sheriff uniform complete with hat & a Stainless Steel Colt Python .357 Magnum.

Viewers of The Walking Dead will be familiar with these items as Rick Grimes' costume form season one & his trademark firearm.

I originally made these for fun just for myself but thought others might enjoy them.

They can be found in Germantown Police HQ's Basement. Look for a storage closet with a poster of a Colt Python inside, nearby on metal shelves will be a foot locker & gun case.

If you use the CALIBR version of this mod then Moira in Craterside Supply, Megaton & Flak & Shrapnel in the Rivet City market will stock .357 ammo for you to buy.

The .esp is fairly basic to avoid causing ripples in the vanilla game, it's mainly intended to let you have a go with the items without having to break out GECK first.

As a bit of a test for me & a bit of fun I made a 629 Smith & Wesson, & Stainless Steel version of the Model 29 .44 that's in the game.

When completed it struck me that the 629 wasn't a million miles from a Stainless Steel Colt Python so....

Once I had a Stainless Steel Colt Python & being a lover of the Walking Dead it occurred to me that the Pre-War Casual ware was not a million miles from Rick's sheriff Uniform & Lucas Simm's hat was not far off Rick's iconic headgear so...

I was able to find good photos so the embroidered shoulder patches & badge, even the collar pins are all based on the Walking Dead King County Sheriff costume.

The traditional USA Sheriff's uniform actually fits in rather nicely with the 50's feel of the games too.

I've even included a female version with a skirt.

As stated above, the .esp's fairly basic & is mainly to allow quick access to the gear in game or for less experienced mod users to avoid having to add them in through GECK.

I've set the Colt Python's stats to fit in with existing weapons in the game so it's not a God gun.

The damage is less than the vanilla .44 but durability is much higher as stainless steel does not corrode like other finishes.

I know those more used to tinkering will probably want to combine this into other clothes mods, if they enjoy the gear. :) ,or expand .357 ammo to leveled lists or just adjust the damage & stats of the Python to suit their game styles.

(3) CALIBR, CALIBR/FWE & Non CALIBR versions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are three versions of this mod to choose from, CALIBR, CALIBR/FWE & Non CALIBR.
Only use one version.
All versions add the same King County Uniform & Colt Python .357 Magnum.
Non CALIBR Colt Python uses the vanilla .44 ammunition as there are no vanilla .357 Magnum rounds.
In the CALIBR version the Colt Python uses the correct .357 ammo plus Moira in Craterside Supply, Megaton & Flak & Shrapnel in the Rivet City market will stock .357 ammo for you to buy.
The CALIBR version of this mods requires the use of CALIBR from here:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3447/?
Once installed you should have CALIBR.esm in your load order & ticked.
CALIBR is Community Ammunition Library - by Tubal & is a resource that allows multiple mods to use the same ammunition to help prevent clutter & confusion.
CALIBR/FWE version is basically the CALIBR version with weapon stats to fit in better with FO3 Wanderers Edition (FWE). It requires CALIBR.
(4) Installing & Uninstalling
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Note, if you use the CALIBR or CALIBR/FWE version of this mod you MUST have CALIBR.esm in your load order or Fallout 3 will crash on startup.

The non CALIBR version has no requirements.

Using a Mod Manager:

Download manually, right click on the archive & "Open With" Mod manger (FOMM/NMM).

The mod will now open in your mod manager's Package Manager, left click on it & select "Activate" to complete the install.

Don't forget to take care of archive invalidation, the version built into mod managers often needs to be turned off & then back on again AFTER adding a new mod.

To uninstall, open your mod manager, open the Package Manager, left click on the mod & select Deactivate.

Manual Install

Download manually, unpack the archive, drag the extracted folder & drop it into your Fallout 3 folder (not into the Data folder as the package is already named Data). Say yes when asked to overwrite.

Go to your Data Files & tick:

King County Sheriff.esp

Don't forget to take care of archive invalidation.

Manual Uninstall:

Go to your Data Files, untick:

King County Sheriff.esp

Go to your:

Fallout 3/Data

Delete this file:

King County Sheriff.esp

Go to your:

Fallout 3/Data/Meshes

Delete this folder:

King County Sheriff

Go to your:

Fallout 3/Data/Textures

Delete this folder:

King County Sheriff

Go to your:

Fallout 3/Data/Sound/fx

Delete this folder:

King County Sheriff

The mod is now uninstalled & removed.

(5) Conflicts
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Both versions - The items are placed in the Germantown Police HQ's Basement so if you have a mod making changes to that area there could be possible conflicts.
Non CALIBR version - No other conflicts as all models & textures are either new or unique versions.
CALIBR version - .357 ammo is made available for Moira in Craterside Supply, Megaton & Flak & Shrapnel in the Rivet City market to sell. Therefore new vendor containers are added to those cells, if you have a mod making changes to either this may conflict. The changes are designed to be as unobtrusive to the game as possible & work with most mods that make simple additions & a Merged Patch should fix many clashes.
(6) QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: Fallout 3 crashes on startup with this mod installed, why?

A: The only way that could happen is if you're using the CALIBR or CALIBR/FWE version & don't have CALIBR mod installed. Check that you've got CALIBR.esm in your load order or if you don't want to use the CALIBR version then switch to the other.

Q: The Colt Python added uses .44 rounds instead of the correct .357 Magnum ammo, why?

A: The game has no .357 Magnum ammo so the nearest is .44. Some people don't care about exact ammunition & would rather not have the clutter of many varieties so the basic version of the mod is included. For those wanting the Colt Python to use the correct .357 Magnum ammo there's a CALIBR version available in the Files section.

Q: Why use CALIBR, couldn't you just have made your own version of .357 Magnum?

A: Yes I could have made my own custom .357 Magnum ammo but then any other mod using .357 Magnum would not recognise my version. You'd end up with multiple versions of .357 Magnum which would lead to clutter & confusion. CALIBR allows all .357 Magnums to use the exact same ammo across mods.

Q: The world seems bleak & dangerous plus people die suddenly just as I grow to like them, yet I'm on the edge of my seat. What gives?

A: You're watching The Walking Dead...
