The first thing I should mention is that this mod contains meshes and textures that were made by theoneness. All my attempts to contact the original author to obtain permission to use these models and textures have not been successful. They have not included any legal stuff in the original mod's description, and their last activity was from over 3 years ago.

Originally I intended to fix this mod up for personal use, but things got a bit out of hand and I ended up overhauling it. Anyway, long story short I figured that Wolverine is far too popular a character and the Wasteland far too perfect a setting for this mod to go unreleased.

However, if I am asked to take this mod down for legal reasons, I shall comply. I have no interest in getting banned or prosecuted.


Update
If you are downloading the combined Wolverine Ability + Plugins.esp, it is a good idea to rename the file to Wolverine Ability.esp for an easy in-game transition.

Version 1.3
This version contains Version 1.2 and the Carbonadium Battery fix described below. Most importantly, this version fixes the inability to gain Adamantium Skeleton and Wolverine's Fury through normal leveling up. Additionally, kills with the (Super) Adamantium Claws now attribute to you instead of Liberty Prime and the Radiation Juice and Crippak are more potent.

- There is now a Carbonadium Battery for download which heavily irradiates anyone holding it. This is to enable completion of The Wasteland Survival Guide. This battery is a vital component in Megaton's H-Bomb. Disarming it should allow for removal.

Version 1.2
This version contains Version 1.1 and the Liberty Prime fix described below. A few other game settings have been fiddled with to make Wolverine more powerful when leveling up.

- I have disabled the Liberty Prime Bloody Mess effect from happening to the Player, and increased the Liberty Prime Laser damage from 1000 to 10000. Liberty Prime no longer kills you with one hit - he still does to everyone else - but he is still pretty dangerous. It's fun picking a fight with him, kinda like fighting a Sentinel...

Version 1.1
This version contains the Claw Icon and Tranquility Lane fixes described below. Max Fall Height also increased so jumping off cliffs in Operation Anchorage is possible. Version 1.0 and associated fixes moved to Archive Files.

- I just realised I forgot to include the Pip-Boy icon for the claws, so this texture has been added to the download page. It's just one texture, all packaged to copy correctly into the Fallout 3 folder.

- I have edited the script for Tranquility Lane which allows Betty to kill you. You can claw her smug little face in all day long, and there's nothing she can do about it. She still tries, but fails miserably.

Plugins
OPERATION ANCHORAGE - Adjusted the damage of the explosive charges used to destroy artillery guns. You can get a face full of explosion and shrug it off.

BROKEN STEEL - Disabled scripted death when standing near Liberty Prime during orbital strike. Again: face, explosion, shrug, off.

Optional
In the optional files I have included:

- A Muramasa 8 Ball which counters some of the Damage Resistance. This is for anyone who finds it a bit Over-Powered. The 8 Ball can be found in the Player's dresser just before you murder all your friends on the way to the Vault 101 exit.

- A classic X-Men styled costume. This can be found in a box inside the Vault 101 entrance tunnel.

- A version of the claws which removes the Pip-Boy glove.  This is for those who use the Pip-Boy Readius or some such thing.


Now, on to what this mod does...


Description

This mod will allow you to become Wolverine through a succession of immediately available perk ranks. Each rank will make you more powerful and more indestructible. This allows you to choose how invincible you are, so you can be Wolverine without ruining the game. Wolverine Mutation Rank 1 is granted immediately upon initialising this mod. If starting a new game, full player control is given from the moment the Overseer interrupts dear ol’ Dad at your 10th birthday.

Introducing resistances you didn’t even know existed. That’s right, you can now resist energy weapons, electric swords and pulse mines. This mod is best initialised before exiting Vault 101 to gain the speed boost, and preferably with a brand new character for complete immersion. It would also go soooo well with MMM or the suchlike. Having every perk, on Normal difficulty, it takes a crowd of around 25 Deathclaws to pose any real threat to you.

In case anyone wants to console their way around the perk requirements, I have included the ID number for perks, weapons and chems.

Items

[xx00102B] Wolverine's Costume
This costume is based on the classic X-Men uniform for Wolverine. As a result of your Dad's tinkering, it has been imbued with Chinese stealth technology. You gain +15 Sneak and a stealth field when sneaking. As the bright colours and tight fit clearly mark you as a superhero, wearing this costume will grant you +3 Charisma as well.

[xx000EA7] Muramasa 8 Ball
The only substance known to drastically reduce Wolverine's regeneration factor, this confusing item gives -30% Damage Resist.

[xx023770] Carbonadium Battery
Similar to Adamantium, but incredibly radioactive, this item provides -50% Radiation Resist whilst increasing Radiation Poisoning by 10 every second.


Chems

Due to Wolverine’s indestructibility, certain measures were required to enable completion of such quests as The Wasteland Survival Guide. This gave rise to the first two chems listed here. The third was just a bit of fun. All three crazy concoctions can be bought from Megaton’s own mad inventor, Moira Brown.

[xx010BBE] Crippak
Designed to test the effectiveness of its cousin, the Stimpak. This serum will damage your legs by 10 points per second for 10 seconds, and your health by 20 points per second for 10 seconds. Will not work with Wolverine Mutation Rank 3.

Instructions: Inject self. Don’t fall over.

[xx01D3A3] Radiation Juice
For no discernibly good reason, here is an I-V drip that will irradiate anyone stupid enough to hook it up by 75 points per second for 20 seconds.

Instructions: Insert Intra-Venous needle. Turn on valve. Seek immediate medical assistance.

[xx01D3A4] Napalm Varnish
Possibly the most useful thing Moira Brown has ever done. This effect is better seen than described, so go ahead, try it! Unfortunately, each packet is 100 caps and only lasts for one hit, so make it count.

Instructions: Equip unarmed / melee weapon. Use varnish. Hit target. Lose eyebrows.


Miscellaneous

In addition to the above, this mod will allow several other rather unique abilities:
-Strong enough to move cars and even buses. Make walls or a massive explosion, or just push a bus off a highway for the fun of it.
-Tough enough to jump off highway bridges and not even notice. Heights ain’t nothin’ but a thang to Wolverine.
-Jump higher. Now you no longer have to be thwarted by a small fence.
-40% speed boost to the Player only. Will only be given before leaving Vault 101.
-Adamantium coated claws can unlock any door or container. Designed for standing power attack, though works with any attack.
-Run faster with weapons drawn. Jog around the Wasteland, spot a victim, charge at him with claws drawn.
-Cannot get addicted. Pump yourself full of Jet, then down 15 bottles of whiskey. You'll feel fine in the morning.

Installation

Unrar the .rar archive and place Data folder in your Fallout 3 folder.


Load Order

As most of the content is new but based on vanilla Fallout, the files should be able to go pretty much anywhere in your load order, though it would be advisable to load them after any overhaul mods such as MMM and FWE.

The individual files would go best in this order:

Incompatibilities

This mod will clash with:
-Any mod that alters the Player [00000014] or Player Female [0007FB9F]
-Any mod that alters Game Settings of Jump Height, Fall Height, Max Resist, Limb Damage etc
-Any mod that alters the Adamantium Skeleton perk
-Any mod that edits Moira Brown's unique shop inventory
-Any mod that assigns the "C" key to a function

However nothing should be game breaking, and can be easily remedied with FO3Edit.


What would make this mod awesome

Some better combat animations, and if possible an animation to use the claws to climb cliff faces.
