I had been toying with the idea of making a mod that would let you actually read excerpts from skill books (yes, only skill books, not pre-war books) for a long time. Of course, I am not an expert so I couldn't make something very elaborate so I slammed my head against the wall for a while until I came out with an idea that could sort of make sense.

This mod requires no DLC, only the base game.

A new room has been added to the Museum of Technology Atrium: an unfinished room that never got to be made available to the public. The room was meant to showcase the amazing technology of digital books. Who would ever have imagined people would read page-less book on some kind of computer display? Technology is amazing!

I wrote these excerpts myself, in some cases taking snippets and information from here and there (for instance, I am not really that knowledgeable about lockpicking in real life...). I tried to make the stories fit with what you learn from the books, although I had to make a sort of novelization for Grognak the Barbarian, since I am terrible at drawing and I don't really know how to put images on the Pip-Boy. And, even then, they'd probably be really small. I apologize in advance.

In the new room you'll find static versions of the skill books (to avoid making this mod cheaty, with all skill books in one room), and holotapes for each. And, if you'd like to keep your skill books around as decoration after you read them, I'd recommend this mod.

There should be no compatibility issues, unless you have a mod that makes changes to the Museum of Technology Atrium. I am using Better HiRes Skill Books with no problems, although if you have a mod that changes the meshes, there could be a bit of a problem with the static versions I placed.

To install, extract the contents of your downloaded file to your 'SteamSteamAppsCommonFallout 3Data' folder. Then activate the mod through your preferred launcher by ticking the checkbox next to the esp. Hope you like them! Available in New Vegas as well.
