=== Overview ===

This mod randomises the appearance for nearly all dogs (except Dogmeat). Using 2 models, 14+2 skins and eyecolors there are over 40 variants available. Some dogs will still use default (vanilla) textures. If you have modified them, you don't have to do anything for it to be used.

This mod modifies CrDog, CrDogRaider, CrDogVicious and CrDogTalonCompany to pick a random appearance from a list (each uses a different list). Also, all dogs in Little Lamplight LLDog1-6 are modified, each given a specific appearance based on their name (and my preferences).

Talon Company dogs (and some Raider dogs) will no longer look like they went through a meat grinder. Most will be healthy looking canines (though still menacing). Most of them are using a modified version of the Vicious Dog mesh to allow using textures for standard dogs.

Any mod which adds dogs using one of these (or inherit appearance through the template system) will automagically use one of these variants.

---
Dogmeat is NOT modified in any way, so you can use your favorite Dogmeat modification without any issues.

Known issues:
This mod now modifies the EncWasteland* records so Vicious Dogs spawns correctly in Wasteland encounters. It is recommended that you create a Merged Patch if you use other mods that make similar changes.

This mod conflicts with other mods which modify one of the CrDog* records. One such mod is Mart's Mutant Mod (MMM). I have included a patch for RC6.1.

The modified vicious dog mesh used is not perfect. There are slight imperfections in the shoulder and tail areas which are visible in some light conditions (though most of the time it's not noticable). I'm too inexperienced with Blender to fix it at the moment (getting anything done in Blender is a painful experience).

=== Installation ===

If you are using FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager), you can use it's Package Manager to create a FOMOD from the contents of the folder this README is located in. If you don't have FOMM, you can download it from here.

To install manually, do the following:
* Copy the 2 required files listed below to your Fallout 3\Data\ folder.
* Do the same for the the optional plugins if you want it.
* Do the same for the the compatibility plugins that you need.

With either method, you need to adjust the load order and enable the installed plugins using FOMM (or similar). Generally put them early in your load order, though compatibility patches needs to go last.

Create a Merged Patch if you use other mods that adds creatures.

--- Required ---

* K9Breeds.bsa
Meshes and Textures used by K9Breeds.esp (packed into a BSA archive to simplify installation). For it's content see further below under Resources (or use FOMM to browse it).

* K9Breeds.esp
Randomises appearance for nearly all dogs (except Dogmeat).
Modifies CrDog, CrDogRaider, CrDogVicious and CrDogTalonCompany (random).
Modifies LLDog1 - LLDog6 (specific).

--- Optional ---

* K9BreedsMoreDogs.esp
Adds more dogs to most Raider, Scavenger, Slaver and Talon Camps.
Also Abraham (RC), Agatha, Andale, Dukov, Republic of Dave and ThreeDog get a new dog.
Vanilla Bugfix for Muffy in Georgetown.

This plugin can be used standalone if wanted (doesn't require K9Breeds.esp). As it changes many locations, it CAN conflict with other mods. Try loading it before those mods.

--- Compatibility Patches ---

* K9BreedsPatchDLCPitt.esp
Patch for DLC The Pitt. Only affects the vicious dogs on the bridge (eg not very important).

* K9BreedsPatchMMM.esp
Patch for Mart's Mutant Mod RC6.1. Combines MMM variants with K9 Breeds.

=== Merged Patch ===

To create a Merged Patch, start FO3Edit and let it load all your active mods. Right-click, then select Other -> Create Merged Patch.

=== Uninstalling ===

If you made a FOMOD during installation, you can use the Package Manager in FOMM to disable (and uninstall) this mod. To uninstall manually, simply delete all the K9Breeds plugins in your Fallout 3\Data\ folder.
Either way, dogs will revert back to their original appearance without any consequences.

If you made a Merged Patch, delete it or re-generate it.
