'Despicable' Dashwood V2 by DonLemonade
V2 is a complete overhaul of weapons and consumables from the original, and about three times the content of the original. New elements have been added to each stage in the quest so it's worth going back to the beginning. If you just downloaded this, then prepare for a whole new fun adventure.
Description: Herbert 'Daring' Dashwood isn't all he's cracked up to be. Perhaps you are inclined to look into his safe. You might catch on to a trail of interesting notes and items from there. This is mainly a note trail quest / weapons mod.
Requirements: This mod REQUIRES Broken Steel. I used some of the textures and effects. It also makes more sense if you didn't side with the Ghouls in the Tenpenny Tower quest. You WILL reach a dead end if you blow up Megaton, but that shouldn't stop you from doing most of the quest.
Install: Copy 'Despicable Dashwood' esp to your Fallout 3 Data Folder if you didn't install v1. Check the appropriate box in FOMM or Data Manager. If you did, install v2, check it in FOMM or Data Manager, and uncheck/delete v1.
Uninstall: Delete the 'Despicable Dashwood' esp.
What this mod does: This mod adds a series of notes, items, and weapons to the following containers:
Dashwood's safe;
The footlocker in front of the Death Claw Sanctuary;
Dave's safe;
Dukov's liquor cabinet;
Argyle's corpse;
Moriarty's cabinet;
Bass Lantern safe;
Gibson House model house;
Anchorage War Memorial safe and fridges;
Eulogy's safe;
Hollow rock behind Megaton;
Commander Jabsco's footlocker;
Vance's safe;
Rivet City Church donation box;
Evergreen Mills slave guard locker;
Elder Lyon's wall safe;
Karl's, Sydney's, Crow's, Grandma Sparkle's, Gob's, Lydia Montenegro's, Knight Captain Durga's and Margaret Primrose's vendor containers; and
Fred Wilks' Greyditch dumpster.
The following cells have been edited: Tenpenny Tower 02 and 03, Sewer Waystation, and the Plunger Shelter. The changes do not overwrite anything, only adding clutter and NCPs respectively.
New entries have also been added to the personal computers of Dashwood, Irving Cheng, Vance/The Family, and Moira Brown. A whole new terminal is located in the Plunger Shelter. These are probably the most comedic elements of the quest, so worth reading.
The intent is to add some character, lore, and background to the Wasteland's most interesting people. If you have any mods that effect the containers/areas listed above then either don't use this mod, or place it last in the load order. It uses all vanilla assets (but no over-writes) so there should be no other interference. Oh, and this mod fixes the Tenderizer if you care. It now has the special effect it was supposed to have.
You may have to complete some game quests to open some of these containers. I have also placed some keys around in case you have difficulties.
New items:
~Stargazer MR-5 (very powerful but not broken in my opinion, if you consider its origins. This is my pride and joy and got me through some tough spots)
~Radiation Rifle (very lore friendly if you consider its story)
~AR38 "Xombie Buster 9000" (lore friendly, and has an interesting story)
~Peace Ray (fairly weak but is interesting and my be considered more so due to the note attached)
~Eagle Claw (Argyle's weapon of choice. Should be well balanced, but in the hands of higher level characters is still very deadly)
~"Power Suit" Armour (this one is a stretch. If you need convincing, check the note on it, or don't use it)
~Bullet Train (a unique, slightly more powerful Railway Rifle)
~The Exterminator (a unique flamethrower)
~Moriarty's Special Brew (a vile concoction)
~Jabsco's Scoped .44 Magnum (weaker than a .44, unless you make a critical!)
~The Van Helsing (weaker than Lincoln's Repeater, unless you make a critical!)
~Daisy (a certain mercenary's childhood BB gun)
~Daring Dashwood Li'l Ranger Rifle (a unique BB gun)
~Iron Frigate (a trusty unique lead pipe)
~White Phosphorous Knuckles (flaming fists!)
~Slaughterhouse (an ultra-light ripper)
~Bot Breaker (a unique baseball bat)
~Micro-Torch (a flamer pistol)
~PR-91 Minigun (a smaller minigun for small guns lovers)
~B3 Laser Rifle (a unique Tri-Beam Laser Rifle)
~Tristan's Tesla Cannon (a unique Tesla Cannon)
~Lightning Rifle (a hand-held tesla cannon)
~Fission Grenade and Fission Mine (BOOM!)
~Pulse Rifle (great for those pesky robots)
~Tenpenny's Safari Rifle (for those enemies who won't stay down)
~Silver Bullets (for Jabsco's Scoped .44 and The Van Helsing, can also be purchased from Crow, Karl, or Syndey)
~Spicelurk Meat, BRAWNDO, 2053 Port (wine), Moriarti's Special Brew, Mutfruit Juice, Cram Light, Dog Food, Dukov's Delight, Man-Up, Diet Man-Up, Foci-Chew, Delicious Green Goo, InstaMash with Chives, and Radfish (foods/chems)
~Gun oil (for repairing some of these new weapons)
~3 new skill books
~A new Ear and new Finger to collect
~Daring Dashwood Action Figures (collect all 5!)
~Other various junk
~Notes explaining it all.
Note on new items: a few of these items, as noted above, are particularly strong. I created them to complement my lvl 30 character who always ends up facing Albino Radscorpions and Deathclaws. I got tired of pumping several clips into each just to get cheap glands or claws. Some of the other items are just plain interesting, and others actually fit in well with the FO3 experience. If you don't like them, don't use them. Pick and choose, it's up to you. The stories behind it all, as told through the notes and terminal entries, are very lore friendly. They add new dimensions or expand on the character of their owners.
Walkthrough: A walkthrough is available in the README file.
