Adjusts player height to fit the character's sex and permanent SPECIAL stats, using the player.setscale command. Height will vary between 5' and 7'4" for men, and between 4'3" and 6'7" for women (assuming everybody else is 5'10").
It reads the permanent SPECIAL values whenever you enter a menu, and adjusts the players scale accordingly - strength, perception (tall people see farther), endurance, agility, and charisma all effect how tall your player is. Equipping armor that, for example, increases strength, will not effect your height, but bobbleheads and perks like Almost Perfect will.
Installation:
Copy the .esp file to your FO3 data directory, and add it to your load list.
Uninstall:
Uncheck the .esp, delete it if desired, then when you reload your save, enter the console and type "player.setscale 1".
Known Issues:
FO3 character animations that interact with things like counters and chairs don't scale right, so your character may look a bit off while sitting when in 3rd person view (their butt will be above or slightly below the seat level.) It's purely a visual bug, and does not impede game play or stability.
The animation used to get from the Presidential Metro to Adams AFB in Broken Steel - if your scale isn't 1.0, the path the camera takes will end up way off of the tracks. Does not effect game play though.
Recommended Mods:
To change the heights of wasteland NPCs, use
Heights by me
or
NPC Height Randomizer by Luchaire
Both of these files adjust the heights of most NPCs. My version bases the heights on what I thought was appropriate for the character, while Luchaire's is random and will vary for each new game. They face the same visual issue of rescaled animations. Use one or the other, but not both, or the height changes will (I think) compound.
Related Mod:
This SPECIAL based height calculation has also been incorporated into my hunger, thirst, sleep, and blood alcohol content simulator:
Imp's More Complex Needs
Use it in place of SPECIAL Based Player Height if you're into HTS. It also calculates weight in a similar manner, and uses that to scale your nutrition requirements. It includes a height and weight check feature that I'll be adding to this mod in the next release.
