With this plug-in, Canterbury Commons is a nicer, cleaner, busier, more populated, more interesting place to trade your hard earned goods. A fun plug-in for your character to enjoy.

The first time I entered Canterbury Commons, I fell in love with this little One-horse-town. I envisioned such a defensible piece of high ground as an ideal place for travelers to safely stay the night while waiting for the nomadic traders of the wasteland to arrive for commerce and supplies. I think the way a player can invest in the trader caravans makes this spot a great place to sell off the goods recovered from adventuring. The problem I see with Canterbury is that there is really no place to sleep while you wait for the traders (unless you want to steal use of one of Uncle Roes beds). After a few months of head banging, trying to figure this whole G.E.C.K. thing out, I ultimately decided to add a Bar and Flophouse for just this purpose (It has 2 floors, and a basement). I also wanted to add a place to get booze. Oddly enough, the only suitable vendors I could find were Chem-Dealers, so I used them for my bar tenders (they sell chems and booze). The bar is run by Dwight White and his daughter, Carolyn. There is also a bar fly whos always hanging out (some of the towns folk hang out in the Bar as well – go figure!). While I was at it, I decided to clean up the streets, and add settlers around the market area. You’ll find them walking around Canterbury as well. I noticed that the streets at night were way too dark, so I added various lighting for ambiance. The town is normally ill-defended, which often results in the trader caravans getting attacked and killed, so I created a lookout post out of the old water tower (one of my better ideas), and added a “Brotherhood of Steel” presence in the town to help protect it, as well as a generous supply of automated Gun turrets. An awning over the Caravan Traders area completes the scene, as well as some tents and a few sleeping spots here and there for fun. Overall, I like the look and feel of the town much more than the original.
Bugs:
The known bugs don’t interfere with normal game play at all, and they are pretty minor. The biggest one is involving companions! The Bar/Flophouse and various metal shacks works great when entering and exiting with a companion (the problem with companions going off cell when exiting the shacks has been fixed), but be careful when exiting the lookout tower, as companions have been known to fall from the tower on occasion, and die (Dogmeat does this a lot). I suggest having your companions wait below, or inside the bar. My add-in NPCs all respawn after a week or two in-game, so no worries if they die. Just don’t shoot anyone in town, as there are many gun turrets that protect the town, and the hell-fire of bullets that will rain down on you from above will kill you for sure (Hint: a quick-save before you actually enter town may be a good idea). The last bug is that sometimes, as you enter the Bar, enemies will suddenly spawn inside the Bar! This does make for a good old fashioned saloon shootout though, and is kinda fun, so I left it alone. Any other accidents should make the game interesting. All in all, its a fun plug-in that makes hanging out on the streets of Canterbury at night a different experience.
Enjoy!

P.S. If you like my Canterbury plug-in, you can also try my weapons and equipment stash plug-in. it’s some customized versions of existing weapons and armor that makes them more useful, and the games plentiful supply of .32 caliber ammo can now be used to good effect. Great for new characters! It's at -
