From The Personal Diary Of Leanne Walker

It is good to be home.  Sounds weird, saying that about the Capital Wasteland, AND while it is a full warzone at that.  But after the horrors of Pittsburg ... I'll say nothing more about it.

The evacuation of Paradise Falls went smoothly, thank Ghod.  People were unhappy about that decision, many former Slaves wanted to establish themselves there once we had taken the place.  But it is too close to Slaver allies Evergreen Mills and Fort Bannister, and ABSOLUTELY too close to Raven Rock.  With the Slave trade north disrupted, it may not be as viable as it used to be, but I have no doubt that it would be attacked.

So, we stripped the place, destroyed or boobytrapped anything we couldn't take, and were gone by sunrise.  Several V-Birds moved in soon afterwards, but we were a couple of ridgelines away by then and so got away clean.  Heard a big BOOM, suggesting they found at least one of our surprises.  Happy trails, guys.

Our biggest worry was where forty-one ex-Slaves could go, and that's where the war might have actually helped us.  Under 'normal' circumstances (or whatever passes for that in DC), most settlements would be extremely leery about accepting a sudden influx of new mouths to feed.  I can't really blame them for that.  But right now, most members of this new 'Potomac Alliance' are happy to
receive several prospective citizens, spoken for by the Lone Wanderer (my blushes), who all can fight AND aren't afraid of hard work.

Add to that, the Temple of the Union has kind of shoehorned itself into the situation, announcing they will watch over these new arrivals to make sure no one else falls into bad habits.  Even so, I suspect that the idea of "retaking" Paradise Falls hasn't been forgotten as yet.

Clover is sticking with the Ghosts for the time being.  Seeing what she did to Eulogy Jones led to a lot of general approval at the time - and some definite unease later.  She's got a lot of problems, and I hope we can find ways to help her.

Closer to home, looks like Victoria Reign, with Star Paladin Cross's help, has done a great job of keeping things together.  Sharing of intel with the Brotherhood and team-ups for various operations have gone well.  The especially good news is that TecVault has just inflicted a BIG loss on Enclave forces.  The very bad news is that the Enclave is now pulling in a lot of troops and hardware from all over.  The word is that they are putting on hold a lot of whatever they are up to elsewhere just to crush us.  I suppose we should feel flattered, but we're not.

One thing on the homefront I'm really unsure of is re-building the Verti-Bird we acquired with our base.  One of the BoS's junior Scribes, a keen young fellow named Kingsford, brought over several Initiates and, in company with a few Ghosts (notably Bittercup, Frazzled and Gary), started fixing the damn thing.  And learning how to fly it - just "warm-ups" and idling on the pad so far, but .....

As Ghod is my witness, I really don't know how to deal with that.

The Enclave continues to hold the Jefferson and has heavily fortified that area, though Rivet City. stays out of their hands.  Our Rivet City allies confirm that there have been several attempts to start the facility up, but all have ended abruptly - sometimes with a radiation pulse that obviously caused casualties there.  But the Enclave hasn't given up on Project Purity, that much is certain.

Tomorrow, I go to the Citadel.  Squire Rothschild wants to talk with me in person.

Nice scenic view, with the 'Palm Trees', 'GreenerWorld' and 'Dazasters Blue Water For Fallout3' mods in evidence.  With the sun reflecting off the water, it's a quite pleasing effect, IMO.

Have to admit the first thing I thought of was "you have good karma, you can't recruit Clover!" Then I remind myself this is storytelling, so screw the vanilla system, lol. Are you going to be using the flyable personal vertibird mod?

Plenty of mods enable the standard Companions to be recruited regardless of Karma. No immediate plans to use the flyable VertiBird mod (mainly because I doubt if my system could handle it) but it will be a thing later..

err...about that, there was some accident which I sorta kinda shot Eulogy Jones in the head. Clover and Crimson got mad. I tried to explain but they were swinging their swords at me, so my companions shot them in self-defense. Yea...

      R-i-g-h-t.

I find it's usually best to recruit first and THEN shoot.

Clover is in the 'Slaver' Faction for some bizarre reason, so anything done to Eulogy while she is around will usually lead to ... unpleasantness. Best to recrtuit her, park her outside Paradise Falls, and THEN go back to settle Eulogy's hash.

Comes to that, leave the rest of your Companions outside until the negotiating is done. A number of mods have that kind of problem - Bond's GNR Studios, for example. Any Companions with me will go berserk right at the end of my chat with Three Dog, and go after his staff. I've also found that RL-3 is especially prone to wigging out if close to multiple non-hostiles.
