About this mod

Makes firearms more viable and improves gameplay variety.

Permissions and credits
Main features of this mod are:
- Firearms no longer draw attention of Virals
- You can carry more ammo for your guns, bow and crossbow
- Ammo sold on any difficulty by any merchants but more expensive
- You can sell Shield
- Removed Runner and Fighter Experience Bars from HUD (screenshot 1)
- Removed Driver Experience Bar when in Buggy from HUD (screenshot 2)
- No "reload" prompt on low ammo in magazine
- I know you can have silencer in the game now, which makes this mod not so very useful, but I suppose some people (like me) would like to fire loud guns and have silencer for aesthetics

Update:
- Updated to latest version. Beware! I had to remove public access for most DLC/Event weapons, which means they won't be silenced anymore. Reason: too many files to keep track of, and most important - there are several placeholder items in these files, which means devs might active them, or push new DLC, or just start some event and it breaks whole mod, causing crashes. With fewer files it will work more reliably in case of new updates made by developers (I seriously have no idea how many more years they will keep updating and adding content to this game...) and it wouldn't need extra support from my side (hopefully).
- Updated to latest game version of 1.21. Edited file structure to prevent crashes... again. Merged version updated accordingly.
- Updated to latest game version of 1.20. Overall, previous version seemed like working fine, just "silenced" few more DLC guns. Merged version updated accordingly.
- Updated to latest game version of 1.19 and Merged GIH-DWET version of the mod. Since I don't own some latest DLCs, some newly added guns will have vanilla parameters, as well as some Legendary guns I wasn't able to tweak. Can't help it for now. Tested both in Following and Original campaign, seems to be working fine, but just in case, back up your saves before applying
- Updated to latest game version of 1.16 and Merged GIH-DWET version of the mod
- Fixed some bugs to work well on current game version
- Removed time scale feature, now it will be coming with Dynamic Weather Cycles mod, or in Merged Optional version if you want it
- [MAJOR] Reworked firearms damage model. In vanilla game, different weapons do damage based on skin (which was super annoying for me). For example golden shotgun did about 3 times more damage than ordinary one. I made all firearms of same model do same damage, so now you aren't forced to play with specific weapon skin (if you don't like it) for more damage, however, different weapon models still have different stats. This also means you won't be able to have weapons, that can kill anything in one hit on any difficulty anymore (hence Golden Shotgun that did around 2500+ damage per shot), thus you won't have inferior and overpowered versions of the same gun available. Nerf to max weapon damage also feels good, because they are already very powerful, and my mod gives you a lot of ammo to carry, as well as ability to buy it from most traders. However, exclusions to damage model are Revolvers (they seem to have hard coded stats) and maybe some newest DLC weapons. Not big of a deal, since these weapons are unique
- [MINOR] Forgot to update SMG, Bolt and Arrow ammo count in 1.2, now it's fixed

More details:

I tested most firearms I could and not even unique guns draw any attention of Virals. If some firearms still do, please report.
Ammo you can carry (no changes to magazine sizes) and Prices for single small Ammo pack list:
Pistol - 540 ammo - $1500 per pack (you can buy up to 3 before vendor re-stock)
Shotgun - 360 ammo - $2500 per pack
Rifle - 720 ammo - $2000 per pack
SMG - 720 ammo - $1800 per pack
Bow - 99 arrows - no changes to prices
Crossbow - 99 bolts - no changes to prices
Sometimes in The Following DLC you will get *better deal* at vendors selling ammo at very low prices (like $100 for pack), I didn't mess with it, and it's supposed to be like that.

Shield is always given by quartermaster and there's no way to get rid of it instead of throwing away or breaking. Since I never use it, it's convenient to sell it I think. Selling price may vary depending on perks. I set original value to $100 by default and I sell it for $24 per Shield. Seems reasonable.

Huge Exp Bars basically in the middle of the screen were driving me nuts from day one, so I disabled them and didn't touch anything else. Once you max these skills out, you will get Legendary Icon left from health bar as usual, so it won't break nothing.

Main idea of this mod:

This game has awesome melee combat mechanics, but it also has pretty good shooter mechanics which left out in this game and I can't really understand why devs made such decision. By the time you find first firearm, you usually already have modified overpowered melee weapon that can chop in pieces almost anything. Ammo is extremely scarce and on difficulty higher than normal you can't even buy it, so mostly you have to rely on melee and throwing weapons, and later you get your hands on Bow and Crossbow. At the same time game has tons of guns which are rather inconvenient in comparison to those mentioned above. Let's face it, when you chopping up some zombie, especially female one, they scream like a freaking fire alarm, but Virals aren't attracted. Firecrackers sound like pistol shots but they don't attract Virals too, etc, etc... Overall game has enough noise sources. With this mod you can enjoy old Resident Evil style zombie shooter without infinite waves of Virals on your ass. Gameplay becomes much more diverse this way, you can switch between melee and guns as you feel like and both would be great options. Plus with increased ammo prices you will finally have something to spend money on. Funny thing, in vanilla you can carry few sledgehammers, fire axes, infinite numbers of junk, but very small quantity of ammo... Seriously?

WARNING! Make BACKUP of you SAVEGAME (save_coop_0.sav) and original Data3.pak in your game folder just in case! It's very important!

Easy Installation:
- Choose one of 3 files you need and download
- Extract and copy Data3.pak file in *your game installation folder*\Dying Light\DW
- Overwrite when prompted

Merging Installation:
- WinRAR is required for extracting .pak files, other archivers may not support this format and give you errors on recompiling
- Extract my Data3.pak and drag files from data folder to your Data3.pak archive in game folder

In case you want to remove or tweak some features in my mod, you can do this with WinRAR, text editor and basic knowledge, but BEWARE, you have to know what you doing, if done incorrectly, it may break your savegames or crash the game. You can also ask in Posts section.

Known issues:
- When enemies use firearms, they still draw Virals. I didn't mess with it because I'm not sure if I should change this. There are very few armed thugs you encounter during game, most in Viral-safe zones and it serves them right IMO, creates some tactical opportunities. In any case, if that's too annoying, I might try to tweak it.
- You cannot play online with this mod. Sorry, can't do nothing about it.

Mod works with latest Steam and GOG version 1.34
