!!! This mod is officially retired! This means that the files available in the download section are not going to be updated, nor fixed in case they break due to an update to the game or modmanager/tool. As far as I know, they still work in 2023. !!! i don't play the game any more (since like pre-covid) and i have no interest in modding a game i don't play anymore. the files are still going to be available as they are.
Made with the Frosty Editor 1.0.6 (ALPHA 5)!! So please use THIS MOD MANAGER VERSION or higher.
In the five years since this mod first came out, a lot have changed in the Dragon Age: Inquisition modding community. Frosty came out and changed the game (literally!) for all of us who enjoying tweaking our game experience to our own liking. When I first started playing the game in late 2014, I found the DA:I vallaslin, while as a basic concept very beautiful, still lacking in their design. With the vivid artwork, murals and concepts featured in the game, I felt as if the elvhen tattoos didn't really reflect the magical properties of the Thedas continent. So here are my attempts at fixing this, now with an update 5+ years since the mod's initial release.
A super thanks to calbandra at the nexus forums who told me how to mod frosty textures! thank them for the new frosty files!!
Originally, this mod was titled as 'Kurbits', which is a Scandinavian decorative folk painting that flourished from the 1700s to the mid-19th century. In Norway it's called rosemålning and in Sweden it's called kurbits. Many regional variations of this painting technique exists, but they all share similar styles and motifs. Dalahorses are painted in this style, perhaps the most emblematic symbol of Sweden and its culture. As I am not only Swedish but also from the Dala-region on my father's side, I've always loved this style and the way the brushstrokes rendered against the glossy base-coat of paint, and I took a lot of inspiration from the kurbits style to incorporate into this mod. Fun side note: kurbits comes from the latin cucurbita och the german kürbis, which means gourd or pumpkin, which was a common motif in the older art.
!!! all future updates of this mod will only be released as .FBMODs !!! while the old daimodder was a faithful soldier, it's far too unreliable and complicated for me to relearn. so no more .daimod files, i'm afraid.
