I'm unsure if I should thank Margerard or ElkeMaiou, but regardless, thank you!

I like how even the fantastical in-game mounts look like they could be real animals, with realistic scales and fur and claws.  But sometimes I like to play a larger-than-life Inquisitor with phenomenal, cosmic powers!, and an equally magical, mythical mount would be fun.  (I've also always been a little creeped out by the blank stare all dracolisks seem to have, so I adjusted the pupils to look a bit more...friendly.)  Big thanks to Shosholada: the game won't allow true metallics to show up on the dracolisks, but Shosholada figured out how to make textures like that sparkle anyway.

Install only ONE dracolisk color variation at a time!
  • The saddle and dracolisk retextures are separate mods: to get a magma dracolisk + the new saddle, you'll want to install MythSteeds_Magma + MythSteeds_ArmoredSaddle.
  • "Can I install the saddle mod by itself, to use with the vanilla dracolisks?" Yep!
  • "Can I use the in-game saddle with one of these dracolisk retextures, and skip the saddle mod?" Yep!
  • These retextures will affect ALL non-DLC dracolisk mounts.  So if you install the Fadebeast variation, EVERY ONE of your dracolisk mounts will now appear black & green.
  • This saddle mod ONLY affects the dracolisk saddle; it won't affect, say, horse saddles.
EDIT: The saddle DOES affect horse, hart, and nug saddles too!  (I don't know if it affects the bog unicorn saddle.)  Oops, sorry for the misleading information.
  • None of these retextures glow; the brighter ones just sort of look that way in dim light.

Compatibility
  • Spoils of the Avvar: ?????  I don't kow how these retextures will interact with the Mountain Dracolisk, since I don't have this DLC.  It could be totally fine, or it could crash the game; I have no idea.  If you want to test this, I strongly advise saving your game before summoning the Mountain Dracolisk or wandering too near the Skyhold stables if it's already set to your current mount.  It's probably fine, but better safe than sorry!  EDIT: According to users (thanks Ilinsar!), this DLC is safe: these mods don't affect the Mountain Dracolisk and don't cause a crash.
  • JoH: 100% compatible.
  • Descent & Trespasser:  Useless, but safe.  Since you can't use mounts in those DLCs, these mods have no effect, but you can safely leave these mods installed (they won't cause a crash).

  • The dracolisk reskins are NOT compatible with any other dracolisk retexture mod.
  • The saddle reskin is NOT compatible with any mod that recolors the dracolisk saddle.
  • It should be okay to mix and match Mythical Steeds with other saddle/dracolisk retextures, for example: you could install MythSteeds_ArmoredSaddle alongside thelaughginganon's Turquoise Dracolisk Recolor, or you could install thelaughinganon's black saddle alongside MythSteeds_AshaBellanar.
  • I seriously doubt these dracolisk retextures are compatible with thelaughinganon's dracolisk eye textures, but I haven't tested it.
  • It's safe to install the dracolisk retextures alongside mods that recolor different mount species.  For example, you can run this mod alongside a horse retexture mod just fine.
  • Since the saddles for each mount species are all separate in the game files, it is safe to install this saddle mod alongside any mod that alters the saddle for a DIFFERENT species.  Turns out I was wrong: different species DO share saddle files, so this mod is NOT compatible with mods that reskin horse, hart, or nug saddles.  Unsure about the bog unicorn.

Standard disclaimer
Retextures are generally a very stable addition to DAI and I haven't experienced any glitches or crashes from these mods, but I can't test everything.  So use these mods at your own risk, I'm not responsible if your game spontaneously breaks, etc etc.  If you do experience issues, please post your problem in the comments: odds are, I won't be able to fix it (I'm still a newbie modder), but the warning would still be useful to other people.

Permissions: Want to build your own dracolisk mod?
Generally speaking, I don't mind if people crack open my mods or make new mods using my assets.  This time, though, some of my specular files contain assets that belong to Shosholada, so I'd appreciate it if you don't touch those.

I've uploaded all of the DDS source textures that contain only stuff I created: if the file you want to edit/use is in that collection of uploaded source textures, you can use it without further permission from me; if it's not in that collection, please don't use it.  If you have Gimp 2.8, I've also uploaded my xcf files for the dracolisk, which should make recoloring easier (everything in those xcf files is fair game too).  For people with slower download capabilities: I've also uploaded a "minimalist" version of my main dracolisk xcf; it doesn't have all of the colors I used in my mods, but it at least includes templates and shape cut-outs that you may find useful.  If you want to post mods using my stuff online, I'd love just a shout-out for my contribution to your project :)

Credits
Shosholada, for the technique that lets the dracolisks sparkle
And obviously, a HUGE thanks to the creators of the ModMaker/ModManager/DAITools Suite

Note: Nightscrawl and Tipsqueak uploaded some beautiful Inquisition symbols, but those aren't actually used here: the ArmoredSaddle's symbol is part of the original saddle; I just traced and highlighted it.
