About this mod

Another dress retexture! Designed primarily for Qunari, but works for all races.

Permissions and credits
This is my first publicly-posted mod and I'm terrified, so please be nice...

This mod has some drawbacks, so please read carefully.  If it's not to your liking, please just skip my mod and try out some of the other lovely dress retextures available on NexusMods instead.  Thank you!

It was designed primarily for qunari, but it can be used on female Inquisitors of all races.

BUG: This mod will cause the game to freeze in Trespasser (even outside of the wedding cutscene).  I do not know why, and haven't been able to fix it.  I recommend you uninstall this mod prior to starting Trespasser.  Very sorry!

UPDATE: I've added a new mod for matching Halamshiral attire, so everyone in your party can match!

UPDATE: New color added: green satin + black velvet.  This color is NOT recommended for qunari.  If you want your party to match, check out AurianaValoria1's Sumptuous Silk Finery! (pearl + jade version)

UPDATE: Frosty version available, thanks to Waldwynde!

Overview
All wedding dress mods can be used on qunari, but there's a catch: your hands and upper chest end up with a much paler skin color than your character's face, like you've got a really bad tanline around your neck.  But darn it all, I wanted a dress for my qunari!  So I decided to find a way to fix this...and failed: the skintone portions of the dress simply can't be touched without triggering a host of new graphics glitches.  I couldn't paint over it, overlay it with lace, trick the game into giving it the right tone, nothing.

Enter plan B: Design a dress that makes it look like the pale-skin-portions are part of the dress.  This plan was...moderately more successful, and that's what I've posted here.  A few problems remain, and I do not believe I can fix them, so the best I can do is warn you about them up front:

  • There is exactly one version of the mod for each qunari skin tone, with only one dress color for each.  The entire reason the mod "works" is because the dress is tinted to match the glitchy pale skin tone, to make it look like those areas are part of the dress.  The game uses a different pale skin tone depending on your character's real skin tone (i.e. if you have qunari tone #6, the dress's hands and chest are pale peachy-rose; if you have qunari tone #8, they'll be pale tan-gray).  Ergo, one dress for each skin tone.

  • On qunari, the dress now looks like it has a high collar, like you're wearing a blouse underneath the dress.  In my opinion, it's not as pretty as the standard low-cut V-neck, but I couldn't see a way around it.

  • Your hands keep their pale color, and I couldn't make them look like gloves.  They're far enough away from the face that I don't think it's noticeable, but you may disagree.

  • Your physique will appear slimmer than the standard muscular qunari physique.

  • The dresses are all a bit...beige.  (Okay, a LOT beige!)  That is mostly out of my control: in order to make the pale-skin-portions look like they're part of the dress, I had to use a beige color palette.  Sorry :/

So, can you equip these dresses on humans, elves, and dwarves?  Absolutely!  On those races, these dresses function like a regular dress retexture mod: the skin-exposed areas will automatically recolor themselves to match your character's real skin.  As with all dress retexes, dwarves have a minor graphical glitch where the bust has a slightly different shape from the natural dwarven bust, but it's barely noticeable.

Instructions/FAQ

  • Nope, the dress still isn't working in the Trespasser wedding cutscene.  Sorry, out of my control :(

  • Install only ONE version of this mod at a time.  This mod is also NOT compatible with any other dress retexture mod.

  • Qunari: Use the correct version for your character's skintone.  (See the images if you're unsure which one to choose.)

  • Elf, Human, Dwarf, regardless of skintone: Use whatever color you like.

  • This mod merely retextures the dress.  To actually equip the dress, you will need one of the following:

To replace your pjs, install Skyhold Replacer Wedding Dress
To replace your halamshiral outfit, install EITHER Formal Wear Replacer Wedding Dress OR Skyhold Replacer Wedding Dress + InvisibleFormalAttire
Or use Cheat Engine to hack the dress into your inventory (I have no experience with this, and can't help).

  • I believe you need to have Trespasser for this mod to work.

  • Nope, I can't make a low-collar version for QF, and I can't make a high-collar version for HF/EF/DF.

  • If you want to remove the jeweled necklace, this mod should be compatible with the Dress Mesh Edit mod

  • Standard disclaimer: Use this mod at your own risk, I'm not responsible if your game spontaneously breaks, yadda yadda.

  • I have no plans to create any more recolors of this dress, but I've uploaded the files if you want to attempt your own.  Feel free to use my files & mod assets as you like, no further permission required.  Credit for my contribution to your project is always appreciated, but I mostly just like to see my mods still getting use.
