Allows male Wardens to start a romance with Alistair, and marry him for those of Human Noble origin. Voiceovers were edited with proper male or gender-neutral expressions, so male Wardens won't be referred as a woman or queen anymore. Includes edits for party banter and Awakening as well.

This mod allows male Wardens to start a romance with Alistair, and marry him for those of Human Noble origin. Voiceovers were edited with proper male or gender-neutral expressions, so male Wardens won't be referred as a woman or queen anymore. Party banters were also edited, so now Alistair will discuss with other party members about being in a romance with a man or a woman, accordingly. This doesn't affect in any way the original Alistair/female Warden romance, though some female-specific lines are now gender-neutral.
Besides this, Alistair can now participate in a foursome with Isabela, Zevran and the Warden (male or female). Many dialogue bugs were fixed as well (go to the files description for details).
USERS OF THE STEAM OR ORIGIN VERSION OF DRAGON AGE: Please read carefully the Steam patch info, under the Optional Files section below. There's a good chance you'll need this patch for the mod to work properly.
NOTE FOR GERMAN PLAYERS: If you're playing the German version of Dragon Age, check out AjChegwidden's translation for this mod (Link ). He has edited voiceovers, so now the new lines are also in German and don't break the immersion, while still being appropiate for male wardens.
If you're going to use the Steam patch as well, install it first, and then let the German patch override it when necessary.
Update: Included by mistake an old version of cutscene_slideshow in the previous download. The correct one is in the new main mod upload.
Update 2 (14/06/2016): Fixed an issue in cutscene_postcoronation with a plot flag not correctly setting, and a couple of lines were edited with new voiceovers. Download in main mod.
Update 3 (18/06/2016):Fixed the genpt_alistair_defined script, which wasn't triggering the romance options properly. Edited a line in the alistair_main.dlg file.
Update 4 (05/07/2016):Fixed a plot flag during the landsmeet, which was showing a duplicate player line if Alistair was changed.
Update 5 (09/07/2016):Changed a line in party_events.dlg and restored two missing lines. Added the file den510_anora, which edits a couple of lines to make them gender-neutral.
Update 6 (18/07/2016):Unlocked a dialogue in alistair_main concerning the Joining, and fixed some plot flags in party_events and epi_alistair about Morrigan's ritual. If Leliana is friendly, she will discuss the warden's relationship with Alistair with proper pronouns. Also edited a line in Morrigan's conversation about the ritual, so she doesn't refer to a male warden as a woman. Keep in mind that this version includes a new file, genpt_leliana_defined, which is used by mods like ZDF (see compatibility notes and file description). Download in main mod (IRS patch also updated)

Update 8 (06/09/2016): Edited the voice-over of one line in a conversation, if Alistair marries Anora and Loghain is forgiven. Both main mod and IRS version updated.
Update 9 (12/10/2016): Improved compatibility with Karma Companions v.5.0 Alpha and mods which use the Companion Compatibility Core v.3. Now the dialogues at the gates work for all companions. Download in Main Mod.
Update 10 (29/10/2016): Now Alistair acknowledges his romance with a male warden during his funeral speech, if he's In Love or Still in Love. Keep in mind that this update includes a new override file, cutscene_funeral, which is used by the ZDF mod (see File Description).
Update 11 (02/11/2016): Minor edit to the funeral (added the In Love line "You will be missed. More than I can possibly say." for male wardens).
Update 12 (15/01/2017): Fixed the conversation about the Joining during the prelude. Now it can be unlocked (thanks to Qwinn for pointing this to me).

Installation
Simply unzip in your My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override. Remove first any old version of this mod that you may have.
Optional files
Awakening edits: I have included an optional file which changes some lines in Alistair's dialogue and the epilogue, so a male warden in a relationship with
Alistair in the main campaign won't be referred as a woman in the Awakening expansion. Place in your override folder.
Marriage for non human noble wardens (untested): Optional file to allow wardens of all origins to marry Alistair. Replace the den600_landsmeet files of the original mod with these ones. Also works for females.
Patch for Steam version (untested): If you're playing a non-disc version of Dragon Age (through Steam or Origin), there's a good chance that the options to start a romance won't work for you. If that's the case, download this patch and unzip it in the main mod folder. It will overwrite some files. This patch is compatible with the other optional files, BUT if you want to install the IRS patch (in English or Spanish), do so after you've started the romance with Alistair, since the IRS patch will overwrite the Steam one.
DA2 and DAI edits: If you romanced/married Alistair as a male in DAO, then imported this world state into Dragon Age 2 or Dragon Age Inquisition, the sequels would incorrectly refer to your Warden as a woman. These patches fix this.
Technically, they're not DAO mods, but the edits are so small, that I thought they'd make more sense here, than in a different place under DA2 and DAI sections.
Please read the instructions.txt before installing, specially for the DAI mod.
Compatibility
For users of Improved Romance Scenes - Alistair: Download the Alistair_male_romance(IRS).zip and let the file overwrite the alistair_main of my original mod. This will work with the DAZIP version of Improved Romance Scenes. If you're using the override version instead, you will need to delete first the
alistair_main and arl100cr_alistair_origin files inside cmessaz7's folder.
The IRS Patch (Spanish) file, under Optional Files, is a version of this patch with Spanish subtitles. That way you'll have most of Alistair's dialogue with the correct subtitles if you're playing the game in Spanish. All credit for this translation goes to Andromeda26 To install it, replace the alistair_main of my original mod with this one. Don't use the English IRS patch together with the Spanish version.
For users of Equal Love: You can keep the files that allow romances with other characters, except Anora for females. Just remove the alistair_main, arl100cr_alistair_origin, den510_anora, and genpt_alistair_defined files from the Equal Love folder. This mod does the same thing with Alistair, but with extras.
For users of ZDF Dialogue Fix: You can keep the fixes for other files, but must remove the alistair_main, epi_alistair, party_ran_banter, party_events,
genpt_zevran_defined, genpt_leliana_defined, den200_isabela, cutscene_funeral, cutscene_postcoronation and cutscene_slideshow files from the ZDF folder. This mod includes similar fixes for the most part, but some may be missing (see below in file description for details).
For users of Karma Origins Companions: This mod will override the files cutscene_postcoronation, party_events and cutscene_slideshow from Karma's mod. The first one can be safely overriden according to the documentation for that mod (I included the same fix in mine). As for party_events, since Update 9 (12/10/2016) the goodbye speeches at the gates play for all companions using Karma's v5.0. Alpha. However, you won't get the slides for the custom companions at the end credits. Keep in mind that, if you downloaded Karma's Bug fixes or Override dialogues, you will need to delete these three files
from Karma's folders (in case they're included), located in packages/core/override. If you wish to see the new companions' slides, remove my cutscene_slideshow file instead.
For users of Ser Guilmore: This mod will override the file den200_isabela.dlg. Other than this, they're compatible.
This mod is NOT COMPATIBLE with Alistair Revised Romance by Kajana.
Some Alistair mods that are FULLY COMPATIBLE: DhaliaLynn's Alistair's Nightmare, Sleep until Dawn and First Night, Der Tunichtgut's Alistair Sex Scenes and Kisses, Luchaire's Better Sex Cutscenes and cmessaz's Rendevouz at the Tavern. In general, any mod that doesn't modify any of the files described below, is fully compatible.
File description
In making this mod I attempted to make it as all-encompassing as I could. As a result, many base game files were modified, and these will conflict with any other file of the same name stored in the override folder. However, most of these files can be removed if there are compatibility issues, without the mod stop working.
I give here a description of all base game files modified and what they do, to help players decide which files they want to keep:
-alistair_main.dlg/.dlb > This is the basic file. It unlocks many lines that were previously available only for women. It also fixes many instances of Alistair referring to male Wardens as women, and several characters referring to Alistair as king even if he's not made so during the landsmeet. Also restores a conversation that was supposed to happen if Anora or the player are elected as sole rulers, the line "He and I have a connection" during the Alistair/Zevran jealousy talk, and some lines during the prelude in Ostagar.
-genpt_alistair_defined.ncs > Redefines some plot flags that locked certain dialogue options for males. Needed for the romance to be started, unless you're using the patch for Steam version.
-arl100cr_alistair_origin.dlg/.dlb > Unlocks a line for males, and restores some lines that were only appearing when romance is not active. This file can be removed without problem.
-party_camp.dlg/.dlb > Changes a line to make it male-specific, and fixes a wrong conditional plot flag. Can be removed.
-den600_landsmeet.dlg/.dlb > Allows male Wardens to marry Alistair, with male-specific lines. Can be removed.
-epi_alistair.dlg/.dlb > Changes lines referring to the Warden as a queen. If Alistair is Still in Love, Friendly or Warm, he will now give the proper answers. Alistair won't know about the Morrigan ritual if the player performed it. Can be removed.
-den200_isabela.dlg/.dlg > Allows Alistair to participate in the foursome with Zevran and Isabela. Can be removed.
-party_ran_banter.dlg > Party members discuss the relationship between Alistair and the Warden accordingly if the PC is male. Restores some lost banters between Alistair and Zevran and between Oghren and Shale. Can be removed.
-party_events.dlg/.dlb > Changes lines to make them male-specific. Alistair discusses the impossibility of having an heir with a male Warden in a more logical way. At the city gates, Zevran and Alistair will now give their proper dialogues if they're In Love or Still in Love. Alistair is not referred as king if he's not, and won't know about the Morrigan ritual if the Warden performed it. Can be removed.
-cutscene_postcoronation.dlg > Changes several lines so Alistair won't speak of the male Warden as a queen. Restores the plot flags for the Mage, Human Noble, Dwarf and City Elf boons, so you get the correct slides. Can be removed.
-cutscene_slideshow.dlg > Changes the text of the slides if a male Warden marries Alistair, so he's not referred as a queen. If Zevran is In Love and leaves Denerim, the correct slide for males appears. If Alistair is In Love and stays in Denerim, the slide won't mention queen Anora if she's not queen. The proper slide appears for Morrigan if she's in Love, and not just Still in Love. The proper slide appears if the werevolves were cured and allowed to leave. Can be removed.
-genpt_zevran_defined.ncs > If the player marries Alistair but he is in a romance with Zevran as well, he will discuss the situation accordingly. If you remove this file, but don't remove the custom .gda and zevran_marry files, Zevran will give this talk twice, one with correct expressions and one with incorrect ones.
-den510_anora.dlg/.dlb > If the Warden is in romance and asks Anora to marry Alistair, she will discuss the situation of her future husband having a lover in a more gender-neutral way. Can be removed.
-genpt_leliana_defined.ncs > If a friendly Leliana discusses the Warden's relationship with Alistair, he won't be referred as a woman. If you remove this file but keep the custom .gda and leliana_friendly files, Leliana will give this talk twice, one with correct and one with incorrect expressions.
-cli310tr_morrigan_waiting.utt > When Morrigan explains the ritual to the warden, he won't be referred as a woman if Alistair is recruited and in a romance. It's unlikely that you will find other mods which alter this file as well, however.
-cutscene_funeral.dlg/.dlb > If the warden dies during the fight against the Archdemon, Alistair will acknowledge his relationship with him during the funeral.This same file is used by ZDF, but I made similar edits in mine.
Note
Even if you remove this mod completely, a started romance between Alistair and a male Warden will remain active nonetheless. Actions like kissing or going to the tent will still be available, though further progression in the relationship may be impossible. This is normal. There's nothing in the base game that prevents Alistair from responding to a male Warden he's in a romance with. Rather, the male Warden is not allowed to use the lines that would start the romance, but if you have already bypassed these limitations, the romance will stay.
